Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Nice little Jeep Willy’s that comes with a parts Jeep. Has been a good running Jeep for the past two years for me and my family on the farm. It has a new carburetor and I put an electronic distributor in it. Things that will need to be fixed is a brake line, an ignition since I lost the key in a recent move. The starter was rebuilt and the shop that rebuilt pit the wrong gear on it so it hangs up on the flywheel. Last summer I would pull start and it would stay running all day if I wanted to. Haven’t tried to start this year yet but it should be fine. Do not have title”

I installed the new master cylinder for the clutch. The pedal is a bit more stiff due to the larger bore, but it does the job. I wanted Ann to test it to make sure she could operate the clutch, so she took it for a cruise (and kept the speed down to keep the grass intact).

This post was from August 22, 2012: I show two ads below. John Bean appears to have built both a FC-150 Model 200-F Fire Jeep, and a FC-150 Model-FJ. I don’t know what the difference between the two is.
1. This blown up portion of the ad shows the ad for the Model 200-F from a 1960 Ad
2. This ad is from 1959. I can’t tell what model is shown. These are two of 12 pages in the brochure.

The wagon’s serial number is 83086 and the engine number is R3523104 … it looks like the jeep got a rebuilt engine at some point.

This seems to be a 1946 and has the early windshield and a column shifter, so likely it’s a VEC. However, it lacks indents. I can’t tell if it has full floating rear hubs or not.

“Helping a friend sell this 1947 Willys Overland CJ2a. It belonged to her late husband. Hasn’t been on the road for a while and needs work. Has a 1988 Buick/olds 3.8 V6,fuel injected, 700r4 4 speed automatic and factory Dana 18. It will run but not very well, forward and reverse gears working. Power brakes and power steering. Stock axles with mile marker hubs. Newer slot mag style wheels, 30-9.50r15 tires that are starting to weather check.
The body work is starting to show its age but the tub isn’t terrible underneath. A few bubble spots, clear coat fading and paint damage on hood from a tarp. The bondo is about 5/10 on the Rathbone scale. Fenders have been customized as well as the tailgate, it has CJ7 style hinges and latch. Besttop tiger top has a few winters left in it, windows are starting to fog. Custom seats, carpet kit, back seat, radio console, gauge cluster and roll bar inside. Located in Pocatello ID, $5,600 OBO, seriously come see it and make an offer.”
Lots of work left on this project. I expect the price will drop.

“Hi there, I’m looking for a new and loving home for my Grandfather’s 1947 Willys CJ2A. He was the second owner and was in the middle of having a full restoration done on the truck before he passed away, and I unfortunately do not have the time to show it the love it deserves.
The body is straight, there are no dents, there is no rust, and it has a brand new paint job in a light metallic blue. If you are familiar with Willys you may notice that he updated the windshield frame the the later model to give it a rounder overall look. The engine, transmission, transfer case, and differentials were rebuilt and are installed in the truck, the only thing not installed is the front driveshaft.
I have two sets of doors to go with the jeep and a handful of the original parts to help put it back together. And it has a clean title. I’m asking $15,000 OBO, I know from the receipts I found he has much more than that into it. Trades welcome. I hope to find it a great new home.”
I expect the seller is offering to sell a title left over from another jeep for $300. However, the ad is worded as if you only get the title if you pay extra!
