UPDATE:  Was $5500. **Status Unknown**

(04/09/2012) This looks in good shape.

“TRADE I have a 1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep. This vehicle has been used in numerous car and Jeep shows. It is drivable and is in excellent running condition. This Jeep has a front tow bar, so it can be flat towed. It is 90% original, other than some added on diamond plating and a half top roof. This vehicle is one of the Jeeps that is in the Guiness Book of World Records for being part of the World’s largest Jeep only parade in Butler, PA 2011 (Certificate of authinticity is available).
I am looking to trade for a inspected and running Jeep Wrangler (prefer automatic transmission, 4 or 6 cylinder) of equal value.
I am looking for a “daily-driver” now instead of an occasional “summer-drive show” vehicle.”

Updates Sunday Evening

• CATEGORIES: Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

We are busy at the beach, so no updates until Sunday morning.

Here are a few pics from our trip to Seattle and then down to Seaside, Oregon.  Note that instead of writing something mushy or loveydovey in the sand, Ann took it upon herself to draw and photograph eWillys in the sand.  Why she was thinking of you all while spending time at the beach with me is beyond me . . .

Here we are taking a break from our hike on Chinook Pass (ok, we only hiked from the car to the sidewalk).

Here’s a nice shot with Mt. Rainier in the background.

I’ve heard of food trucks, but not food boats!  Ann had eaten here and said we had to stop.  The place is called Bowpickers and is located in Astoria, Oregon.  They do fish and chips and that is it.  Their fish is locally caught albacore tuna.  It was very very good.

Here’s Ann’s toes showing their creative side:

No, we aren’t married yet.  We happened to have Ann’s veil in the car, so we pulled a practical joke on her family . However, her Uncle Bob really is marrying us July 28th.

Jeep Monument in Galleta Meadows Estate in California

• CATEGORIES: Artists/Drawings, Features, Monuments/Statues This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

According to the website, “Dennis Avery, land owner of Galleta Meadows Estates in Borrego Springs envisioned the idea of adding ‘free standing art’ to his property with original steel welded sculptures created by ‘Perris Jurassic Park’ owner/artist/welder Ricardo Breceda based in Perris, California.”  One of the sculptures he commissioned was a tribute to the jeep (or jeeping, I don’t have specific information about the sculpture).

You can learn more here

You can see a variety of jeep pictures here

These pictures were photographed by Bob Perry and posted at Flickr.  Note that there are no boulders under the jeep at the time they were taken in 2010.  However, as of 2012 there are now boulders, suggesting the jeep is climbing over them.

Looks nicely restored. I wonder if it was really painted yellow for the private airport.

“Our 1953 Airforce Jeep is for sale…….It was used as a “FOLLOW ME” Car. The restauration including the engine was done ca. 5 Years ago.

The jeep was only used as a “Follow Me” vehicle on a private airport since then, and has less than 450 miles on the new engine.24 Volt System.

The car is in nice shape.”

1943 MB Lodi Ca **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: MB • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD**

“It’s unfortunate that I have to sell this Jeep, but with a 3, 1 year old, and a third one due in a week, I just don’t have the time to finish this project.

It was purchased last year, and all I’ve managed to accomplish with my spare time was painstakingly remove the civilian paint in order to expose the windshield markings, original hood numbers, and the original OD. I also collected some missing parts. This is a rare “matching” numbers 1943 Willys MB with original tags and markings.

Frame: MB215454
Nomenclature Plate: MB215454
Engine: MB230240
Hood Number: 20308931

I’m really looking for someone who will appreciate the originality of this Jeep and not attempt to strip and do a frame-off restoration.

A few details:

The paint is about 90% original OD. I removed spots of bondo on front lip of the hood, side handles and section of rear panel. The bondo was there to cover minor dents NOT rust areas. Using about four shades of OD, I managed to blend and age the new paint with the original.

– Based on the license plates, the Jeep is no longer in the California DMV System. The previous owner lost the title long ago. I can only provide a Bill of Sale.

– Original “split” front seats and rear seat came off another 1943 MB. All three are solid. The rear is the best one I’ve ever come across.

– Minor rust through in the passenger-side channel (shown in photo)

– Rear “V” brace and bumper have been replaced, but cleanly done to look original

– Motor is seized, but no visible cracks in typical areas

– Four combat rims that originally came with the Jeep. The red civilian rim on the front driver-side is not included

– The previous owner had the spare tire mounted on the rear passenger side. He welded a piece of pretty good chunk of metal for support. Fortunately, the original sheet metal is still underneath it. Cut, grind down, primer and paint . . . and it’s good to go.

– Original pair of SEELITE bulbs. The topbow I purchased at Tower Park earlier this year. The seller told me it’s a repro, but it sure does have a nice patina. Other than that, EVERYTHING on the Jeep is original”

Lori’s Jeep at Amazon

• CATEGORIES: Books, Features, Women & Jeeps This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This is a fiction book.  It’s rare to see a book about a jeep, but even rarer to find a tale about a postal jeep!

You can learn more about that book at Amazon.

From Amazon.com comes this description:

“LORIS JEEPApril 2000This is a story about a thirtyish woman, Lori Bearden, and her eight year old son. They live in a town south of Denver, Colorado that has been engulfed by the population that continues to pour into the Rocky Mountains Front Range every year from the West and East Coasts. Better employment is the name of her game, and she lands a job in the U. S. Postal Service delivering mail to the farmers and landed gentry on the eastern plains of Colorado. She buys an old, forlorn postal jeep to make her appointed rounds on the plains, and later meets a man who makes his living repairing these ancient jeeps. They soon discover that they need one-another.Then Lori discovers that her jeep repairman, Rafael Hernandez, has a second occupation much different from his first occupation, and she learns to understand and cherish a man who lives two lives.”

1963 CJ-3B Gratz, PA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

“First the back story:  I plow snow with a 94 wrangler and had an older farmer friend for a customer. After completing a job, he mentioned he had an old jeep in his barn but hadn’t run it for years. Enter the 63 cj-3b you see here. We worked out a deal and I bought the jeep.  The jeep was in solid shape, except for the floors which sat under a roof leak. After a little work the motor fired right up. I have rebuilt a cj-5 and two cj-7’s but always had an eye for the high hood  cj-3b. I was going to modernize it as much as possible, to make it more road worthy on today’s roads, (v-6 motor, steering upgrade, brakes and such). But after doing the research on the history of the cj-3b and the good running condition that this one was in I couldn’t bring myself to alter it. So… I have restored it to as close to original as I could.

The body was completely disassembled steam cleaned and media blasted. The body was rebuilt as needed to original specs with all brackets and braces and spot welds as they should be. There are no welded over patches or body putty. The floors and box bed were replaced, and are exactly as they should be. The windshield is new as are the rubber gaskets. The body was painted plantation white as the paint code shows (actually the same paint mix with the right amount of flattening agent). The trim code showed a red that jeep (from research) used to paint fire vehicles, and upon cleaning the overly painted wheels red was the first color that they were painted. It also has a heater and defroster and two working vacuum windshield wipers .  New gas tank and cap and sending unit. The hood is nice and flat.

The frame was and is solid was no needed boxing or reinforcement. It was sand blasted and covered with por-15 frame paint.

The running gear was also steam cleaned and painted with por-15 frame or engine paint.  The transmission, transfer case, and front and rear diffs., were opened cleaned and inspected and resealed and filled with proper fluids. The motor ran fine for the two years I drove it. The compression was checked and was in the proper range, so I couldn’t see the benefit of taking it apart and rebuilding an already fine running motor. The carburetor was rebuilt, new plugs and wires new coil and the distributor was also rebuilt. The motor starts right up and runs smoothly. The tires are like new. Radiator flushed , new hoses.

Brakes were totally rebuilt with proper new steel lines and hoses, new brake linings wheel cylinders and master cylinder. Also new emergency brake lining.

A new wiring harness was installed with all clips and grommets. It was purchased from Carl Walck. All lights and signals and horn work as they should. All switches and dash knobs are new. As are throttle and choke cables.

The seats were rebuilt using as close to the original material as I could find. The stitch pattern is the same as the original seats.

All nuts and bolts were also replaced with stainless or grade 8.

A Meyers half top also goes with sale. The farmer had it but never installed it. I wet sanded it so it is ready for paint or polishing. The top is in excellent condition with no dings or dents.  Four tires with  wagon wheels also goes with sale.

For some reason there was no emergency handle with the jeep and I couldn’t find one, everything is there except the handle and cable. I have an under dash unit from a cj-5 that can be used but it wasn’t original so I didn’t install it. Your choice to use it.

This has been a long winded description, but I wanted everyone to know what you are bidding on.  I would recommend  trailering it home  if you are not familiar with the 3b it is geared extremely low and is wound out about 50 mph. Great for around town, not so much for open highway.  Also the top and tires would not be able to mount on the jeep. Thank you and happy bidding.”
