“Recently retired and I have too many projects. I need to sell this one to help finish my other antique truck. This is an earlier 46 Willys with the 3 speed on the column. It’s all there and with a fresh battery and some gas it should start. I just replaced the stater switch and cleaned the gas tank. It will need to trailered or hauled and I can help with loading.”

Kevin writes, “We made it to Moab from Georgia, what an experience! I traveled 1,750 miles @ 25 cents per mile.
I had my share of adventure — Tranny coolant line breaks, gas gauge peg’s at fuel, lost a gas cap and bought a non-vent cap, which caused every hose connected to the tank leak like the Titanic of gas, loose distributor, two plug wires not doing their job, busted motor mouint, spring perches broke (spot welded). All the particapants made it up the Pucker Hill, but me … oh what fun it is to get stuck and broke down. Despite all of this, I had a Great Time!!! These people know how to party and have an honest good time!
All too quickly MOAB 3 – 2012 has come to an end. So, I’m on my way back to Georgia, carrying plenty of red sand for the ride home.

Mark has a nice article at Jeeptruck.com about Don Howard, a former horse race jockey, who ran a jeep rental business out of Creede, Colorado. Don’s family has used jeeps for several generations, partly because the family has a ranch along the Continental Divide at 10,500 feet.

VEEPs are pretty rare. This looks unusual even for a VEEP. I’ve never seen a hood decorated quite that way.
This looks like a nice little jeep.
“This CJ2 is in very good condition, with very good 32X11.50 R15LT tires, a new Northern Industrial 9000 Lb. Winch which has never been used, a tow Bar is mounted on the jeep and has electrical connections, the stereo is a Sony AM/FM CD and MP3 player that works well, it has front High Back Bucket seats and a good bench seat in back. The engine is a Buick V6 and works well, the transmission is Automatic and works well. The paint job is custom, light tan desert camoflauge and there is chrome trim. The title is Clear. I sell it AS IS, but I know of no serious problems with this vehicle, the actual mileage on this vehicle is unknown. I have gotten too old to go riding in the desert anymore, but this is the perfect vehicle for those who still can. The buyer will need to come to Arizona to pick the vehicle up. It is located at my home about 60 miles north of Phoenix.”

The jeep looks solid. I respectfully disagree with the claim that “it will never lose its value”, as we all know by the many “ran when parked” descriptions of jeeps. I would say they will all lose value unless maintained, which is an investment of time and money.
“1949 willys jeep. Has been restored. Almost ever part you can think of has been replaced, rebuilt or restored .Has oringmal flat head 4 cyl. T-90 3 speed. front, rear diffs have be rebuilt transmission to. Engine is stock and runs and purs like a kitten. Jeep has Military tires that are brand new including spare. 16″ wheels. Brand new best top with an extra set of doors. In side of jeep has been rhino lined. Has new heater with defroster vents. This jeep needs nothing. You can drive it in a parade, take it four wheeling this thing will go just about anywhere, or just cruise it around town. Tow it anywhere with its own tow bar. I have lots of pics of this jeep, but its a must see. It gets attention where ever I go. If you want something that will never loose value and is different than this is the jeep for you. It looks like it needs a little more work and some paint. I once went on a date in Hermosa Beach at a Sushi place on a corner near the pier. The sushi place was delicious, though I can’t remember the name anymore.

(10/01/2011) Given that the grille and the rear end are from a CJ, I suspect this is a hybrid build.
“Re-built, new steel body, rebuilt orginal engine,trans, rear-end. Front wheel drive. New brakes and brakes lines, 5 new tires, spare 5 gallon gas can. Front seats upholstered. Not completely restored, missing some tie-down braskets and canvass top,speedometer gauge and cable.
Drives and runs good.”

(08/15/2012) The seller neglects to mention the lack of tool indents on the body.
“You are looking at my 1945 Willys Jeep with 3 speed on the column. Very sought after jeep as it is true to the descripition or history I have looked up on the Net as to column shift. There was only 1824 made the first year as they were made with the last of the war jeeps that came down assembly line. Now about this jeep. it was given a new body and paint, Paint color is harvest tan and if you go to color code for 1945 at kasier willys catalog it is a brown like color. it has had all wiring replaced, It is still original 6 volt but with new wires. Engine was gone through a few years back and purrs like a kitten. All numbers match as being the frame tag, inner hood tag and the dash tags. All shown in the pictures. There is no rust. Only problem area is around windshield frame as it might need fixed in a few years but does not look bad at this time. i also have the original hitch that goes to the jeep as it needs painted and bolted on. Really nice original hitch. I have had several comments on how unique it is and it turns alot of heads when it rides down the road. As many people see the old military jeeps from that year but hardly see a CJ2A civilian jeep today.”

Sebastian and 13 of his fellow Flat Fender Club of Butler Members made the round trip in a van from Pennsylvania to the Midwest Willys Reunion today. While the folks in Ohio played with their jeeps and the people in Moab explored with their wagons and trucks, I got to clean my parents garage. I have wanted to tackle this project for a couple years now, but haven’t been able to for one reason or another.
However, this week, with dad still recovering from surgery (and having a tough time with it — nothing like having a persistent cough after having your sternum sliced open), Ann and I had some free time in between helping him and mom. So, for the past three days we have been unpiling junk in the garage, sweeping up varmit feecees, organizing the unorganizable, shop vacing, and cleaning.
While we didn’t clean everything, we tackled enough of the garage to feel like we had won the battle. Even better, when we began there was only enough room to fit one car. Now, two vehicles can fit with room to spare. Along the way I discovered some treasures, such as some brass inner tube caps (now on Biscuit), assorted transfercase and transmission rebuilt kits, the vin plate for my dad’s 1960 CJ-5 (which seems an appropriate direction to go with a next build project), and a Warn Overdrive Parts Catalog, which I think might be kind of rare. I’ll post the entire catalog online in the next few days. Below is the clean garage and the cover of the catalog.
It sounds like this is in good shape for the price.
