Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Was my plow vehicle So It comes with the plow. New clutch, New rebuilt starter with bendix. Starter not installed. I was going to start a rebuild of the body, Dont have time moving soon. The engine runs great. Heres two pics. The 1/2 cab is original and has two doors with it. The hydrolics work with the plow.Questions just ask. Needs a brake job has new shoes but slave cylinders need honed and new cups.950.00 or best offer You wont drive this away,It needs gas tank cleaned out(Kids were puting something in it,The starter needs installed,It needs seats.This is more of a restore project.it does run and drive needs some work to get it road worthy but a restore is what I was or will do if not sold. Pic by the plow has fender looking shabby?? I started taking it apart for restore but stoped,Till I have garage room for winter.”

“This is a 1955 Jeep CJ5.. VERY RARE and Very nice conditon Hardtop and doors. HY-LO hyd plow, running F-head motor. I purchased this Jeep as a plow vehicle but have moved on to other pursuits. 2 known issues… The Carb floods the engine. The gaskets are either dry rotted or the carb needs to be rebuilt or replaced.. New ones are $100.. The frame is cracked right infront of the passenger rear wheel. It can be patched, ($50) but a Good condition used frame is included in the price. Brakes work great. The jeep can be ready to plow for $150… Bill of sale only..”

“1946 Jeep, civilian model, partialy dissassembled, needs complete restoration, complete with top bows and rear seat, $1600”
The starting bid on this unusual DJ-3A is $2499. I would be VERY interested to see the underside of this body to see what exactly happened to the rear of this vehicle. This has a picture of some kind of Atlanta Army Depot tag, but I don’t know if this is real or not. Note that I had to lighten parts of a couple of the pics, which is why they look a little odd.
“I am not sure what year model this is or model. I am going by what I have been told and what I have seen on the internet. I think it is a DJ-3A 2 wheel drive delivery Jeep somewhere around a 50 model. It does run and drive I have driven it around the parking lot some. I think it has a blown head gasket. I have a new extra engine still in the crate flat head 4 cylinder engine and 3 speed manual trans. I have this for sale local and will end it if it sales. It has some rust in the floors and a few other places as you can see in the pics. I do not have a title. Alabama does not issue a title for a vehcile older that a 75. I will issue you a Notarized Bill of Sale. E-mail me any questions you have.”

“1955 Willys Wagon – Flathead 226 Super Hurricane Motor. 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive. 3″ body lift. Runs well and is in good shape. Some minor rust but nothing major. Clutch was recently replaced. Looks good but is far from a show car.”

I’d hoped to develop some sort of Thanksgiving themed post to celebrate Thanksgiving, but as it turns out there really aren’t many images of jeeps dressed as turkeys … go figure.
Instead, I happened upon this NY Times story of a guy named Harry Allen and his dad’s truck. To get right to the point, Harry restored it ($40k) and it’s a beautiful restoration. There’s also a slide show that accompanies the story.
