1951 Truck Norco, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $9500

This looks good, but still needs some work according to the seller.

“Early 1951 Willys Pick Up with a small block Chevy and a T-90 with overdrive all original running gear. Dana front axle and Timkin rear diff. New custom built gas tank. It’s your turn to have fun with this truck. I have had my fun and it is your turn to make it yours. I have completely painted the frame and body. I also replaced some small things here and there. It is a very fun vehicle and gets alot of looks. Current on registration and road worthy. It needs your love and attention to finish. This all steel body truck needs a some love and attention with a few things like the wipers do not work and needs center buttons for door handles, carpet and headliner. I have put in the power steering upgrade so mark that off you list. I do have a very hard to find Willys Overland tailgate that I have been rebuilding and spare tire holder that have not been painted yet. As a bonus I have a T-18 four speed transmission for and upgrade at an additional cost. If interested I can take more pictures. I am not interested in trades or partial cash with payments”

1948 CJ-2A / GPW Body Skiatook, Ok eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, GPW (Ford MB) This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

It runs and drives, but is rough.

“1948 WILLYS CJ2A/FORD GPW SCRIPT JEEP, it has a 1948 Willys CJ2A title, serial number JC2A 179377, CJ3A hood and CJ3A windshield and CJ3A grill, A 1942 FORD SCRIPT TUB and FRAME NUMBER IS GPW 13101 and a 283 Chevy V8 with a four barrel carb, motor start easy and runs good.

My mechanic drove it and gave me this report, the V8 makes it really squirrelly, way to much power, it jumped out of second gear once. I do have another T90 with long input shaft if the buyer wants it. It has power brakes, after market steering, 30 X 9.5 X 15 inch tires, after market racing seats, the Ford Script tub has rust in front floor area, rear floor and tool boxes do not have any rust, it has original “F” foot rest, “F” door strap eye bolts, steel gas tank in place of rear seat, (good thing as no hole cut in side for a CJ2A gas tank neck) 12 volt battery and alternator, the front fenders appear to be MB as they have the headlight arm hold screws still on them.

I can get a correct title with the GPW 13101 frame number if someone wanted it for $250 extra, (not included in this auction) it takes about 30 days to get one.

I do have a WWII windshield, hood and grill that I will make available to the buyer for extra money, if they want them, but they are not included in this auction.
Certified funds must be paid within 7 days of auction end. Payment must clear my bank before jeep can be picked up or delivered.”

1955 Truck Gloucester, VA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500

(01/10/2012) This looks nice.

“1955 Willys pickup. Factory color Transport yellow. older restoration. has been sitting in garage for several years. Will need some attention but could be a dependable neat old truck. 6500.00 OBRO
If interested please call or text 7five7-six9six-21eight9

I am reposting this to add additional information so as not to waste my time or yours. Ive owned the truck for the last 12 years or so. This truck is the finished product of a compilation of aquired parts (new and used) and assembled together using the best of what was found. It is titled as a 1955 as that was the original truck that I started with. The bed and rear fenders are reproductions from Willys America. The cab is from a 61 truck. The engine is an original super hurricaine flat head 6 that was rebuilt to stock. There is a two barrel carb and intake on it which I believe to be a rare option for this truck as most that you see are the single barrel carbs. During assembling the frame was wire brushed epoxy primed and painted black. Floor pans in the cab were patched and the floor was sprayed at Line X in Yorktown. Line X also sprayed the interior of the bed, the insides of the rear fenders, and the underside of the bed prior to its installation. The truck was painted Transport yellow which was a factory color option. the truck was put back close to original but taking a few liberties as to personal preference. The seat is not stock and is out of an s10 pickup. This truck has not been registered in the last five years or so. It will not leave my house as a driver. In order for it to be road worthy it will need to have the carb rebuilt. (gas is rough when these vehicles sit up for a while). The brakes will need to be bled off. ( again a product of sitting in my garage) and one tire will need to be pumped up, or have a tube put in. Even though it has been off the road I still try a couple times a year to start the old girl up move it around in the driveway just to keep everything lubed up. The last time was this past summer. when these pics were taken. Please understand that this is not a show truck. The cab is not falwless and im sure that you will find many imperfections in the fit and finish of this truck. That said it is a neat old piece and if the above mentioned items were addressed it would be a neat driver. If after reading this your still interested feel free to give me a call.    ”

1953 CJ-3A Estes Park, Co **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: ***SOLD*** Was listed at $1450

(06/10/2010) “This is a 1953 Willys jeep. I have too many projects, was going to build this, but don’t have time now.

It has a chevy 283 V8 with Mallory solid state ignition, high flow aluminium water pump and a two barrel carb, runs great, plenty of power..
Has new brake master cylinder, good tires(these are new since the pics were taken), needs soft top, doors are good though. Twin stick transfer case and three speed manual trans.
It needs to have the custom sterring box mounted better, it works but flexes more than it should, easy fix…
It also needs to have a VIN inspection, I had one done by a Local cop and that wasn’t good enough, it needs to be by a state patrol. I will garentee that you can get a title but it will be sold on a bill of sale only.
I have a plow for this availible very cheap…
Would make a cool offroad toy, I was going to fit into the bed of my F-350 for hunting…
Body is very rust free for it’s age, I have the willy’s seats, but weren’t comfortable for me so I have a couple bucket seats in it.
I also thought this would be very cool to put a tdi diesel or similar into and get 40mpg in a classic 4×4..”

More Updates Later Today

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I was doing updates this morning in the Veteran’s Administration parking lot again this morning when I got distracted with the Forklift post below.  I have more updates to do, so watch for them late tonight.

In the meantime, I’ll be caring for Ann — the reason I was at the VA again today — who had a tooth and bridge removed and her jaw bone scraped to clear up some infected bone (a continuing legacy of  the 1996 bombing).  Right now, between Lorazepam and Oxycodone, she’s pretty out of it.  I’d be out of it too if someone just scraped by jaw bone!

Reader Builds — Paul’s 1944 MB

• CATEGORIES: Builds, Features, MB • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Paul just forwarded me a new video of his nicely modified flattie.  He first sent me pictures of his jeep back in 2008.  Below is the original post.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgJPOX1QIoM

Published November 14th, 2008

Paul wrote to me the other day, professing he’s stricken with the dreaded flatfender disease.  I told him to take two pills and send me more pics in the morning.  Fortunately for all of us, he followed my advice and has sent me a variety of images of his labor of love for the past 3 decades.

Back in August of 1979, he innocently purchased a 1944 MB for only $800.  It was pretty much all original, worn out, but in running condition.

It didn’t take long for Paul to decide to make a few upgrades, changing the engine to a V-6, purchasing a new body, and more.  Then, at some point he decided the drive train needed updating, the tranny and transfercase should be swapped out, a bigger engine was needed, and the dreaded flatfender sickness had overtaken Paul.

The good news is that I believe the sickness has run it’s course, as he’s ended up with a beautiful jeep that will serve him well for years to come. Also, fortunately for Paul, he seems to encountered a disciplined form of the illness, as I don’t see 7 or 8 other flatfenders in various stages of disrepair out on the lawn :-).

You can view some additional pics of the tilting hood in this post.

Here are the specs:

Body: Acme all steel, replaced in 1980
Tilt front end:
all steel, tilts on a roll cage fabricated from ½” pipe
Frame:
From a 2 wheel drive Jeep Dispatcher.  Frame is boxed, has dual shock mounts up front.  This is a much stronger frame than the original.
Roll cage:
custom made, mounts to frame in 6 places.  Seats mount to cage along with spare tire.
Engine:
I started with the original 4 cylinder flat head, then an odd fire 225 V6, finally the Chevy V8Chevy 350, 4 bolt main, bored .030 to make 355 cubic inches.  Has all Eldelbrock aftermarket equipment including internals, aluminum heads and intake,  along withdual quad carbs.  The combination of 400 horsepower, short headers, and small glass pack mufflers, makes the thing sounds like a demon.
Transmission:
Turbo 350 with B&M shift kit and converter
Transfer Case:
Dana 20, Novak brand adapter
Differentials: Early 70’s Jeep, 3:73 gears.
Steering: Chevy column out of a Chevy Caprice along with Chevy manual box.  The crazy thing is that the two bolt hole spacing that held the column in the Chevy was the exact spacing needed in the Willys
Brakes: Chevy master cylinder along with swing pedal (out of a Chevy Vega), has updated 11” drums along with emergency brakes.
Seats: The tilt column makes it easier to get into the high sided bucket seats.  I lowered the seats down about 4″, and about 4″ to the rear by notching the body without making it look too butchered.

Some pics of the build process:
