1953 Truck Bellingham, Wa eBay

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: , .

Here’s a nice looking truck.

“This is a fully restored 1953 Flat Fender Willys Jeep Pickup. This truck was taken down to the frame and was sand blasted and painted. Body and Box were taken down to bare metal, repaired and dents removed. It was re-assembled with all new brakes, brake lines, and master cylinder. The wiring is factory after market. The chrome has been cleaned and rechromed or is new old stock. Interior is new black vynil. The engine was a running 4 cylinder “Hurricane” removed from another not so fortunate jeep from the same era. It has Warren Hubs and new tires.”

Jeep.US41.org — Lots about Lifts/Wheels and more

• CATEGORIES: Tires and Rims, Website

jeep_us41_orgTravis:  Maybe this will answer any Lift questions you have 🙂

I’m not sure who operates the Jeep.US41.org website (I couldn’t find his name, but saw his picture), but he has put together a long, well written webpage on Lifts.

Here’s an excerpt from the page: Whether or not you off-road in your Jeep, you will eventually catch the Jeep bug, and you will find yourself suffering from “Lift Envy.” Lift Envy is a disease that causes Jeep owners to lust after higher lifted vehicles with bigger and bigger tires underneath them every time a “superior” Jeep drives past. But what the heck is a lift, and what is involved in going bigger? This article explains it all.

1948 Truck Kansas City, Mo eBay

• CATEGORIES: Last Ride, Willys Trucks • TAGS: .

Our top notch Israeli bureau spotted this sad looking truck.  This sure looks like a Last Ride parts vehicle to me.

“This truck is being sold as is we are looking for the title and may need to file for a lost title. Pick up only. The radiator is missing, I removed the spark plugs and will check to see if the pistons move, the gas tank has been removed and is in the bed, serial number is 4WD-44899 I believe that makes it a 1949 model.”

1940s MB/CJ-2A San Luis Obispo, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, MB

1940s_mb_sanluisobispoUPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4700

I’m not sure what the model is.

We aren’t too sure of what exact year it is but we did find out that it could be in between the years of 41-51 body style. The engine we know was taken out of another jeep a little newer then the body. Its an F-head with the valve cover on top so it was taken out of a jeep from the years 53-63. We found that it’s very common for people to switch out the engines from that year because it’s better performance.   The jeep has very little rust and all of it is surface rust that we can find. It doesn’t have a transmission unfortunately or i would be driving it. i have a magazine that sells parts for jeeps and we found a transmission for it and it would only cost about 1500 dollars which isn’t bad for this old of a jeep. I would fix it up myself but i don’t have money and i really need a vehicle. Right now it’s an open title.”

1942 Rockcrawler Project Placerville, Ca $6000

• CATEGORIES: Parts

Is the lesson here, don’t try to get married and build a rockcrawler at the same time?

“This is my 1942 Willy’s Jeep Rock Crawler project. I started it when 3/4 eliptical suspension was the “in thing”. Then I got married and so it sits. Not much left on it that is Jeep. It has 2″x3″ square tube frame, fiberglass body streched 8″ at the door for long legs, full roll cage with 4 point harness belts, nice bucket seats that attach to the cage, rubber coated on the inside, Chevy 283 small block rebuilt, electric fan, turbo 350 auto trans, Toyota transfer case and axles with locker in the rear, 4 wheel disc brakes, plastic fuel cell, long front leaf springs with 3/4 eliptical rear and 4 link syspension, GM stering column, and a bunch of other parts. Needs electrical, fuel and brake lines, hoses and belts, hood rollcage and windshild frame need to be painted, exhaust, and I have most of the parts for the drivelines. As it sits I can pick one tire 52″ off the ground and the other three are still on the ground….lots of travel for the rocks. I dont have time to finish it because I got married and am building our house and….well, you know. Call or email with questions or for more pictures. Thanks for looking, Dan 530-558-9129″

1946 CJ-2A Shippensburg, Pa $800

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: .

Here’s a VEC CJ-2A with a snow plow.  The body doesn’t sound good.  No pics just yet.

“Just a feeler – I have an early 46 CJ2A with title. This is a column shift jeep that was a local find. It currently has a plow on the front, the frame is good on the jeep, needs new floor pans and windshield. It is a flat head 4 cylinder that I was told was used up until last year when the individual that owned it passed away. I have not tried to fire the engine up because there is no fuel tank and I wanted to change the oil first. Engine is complete all the way to the air filter and I have no reason to believe it won’t start right up. They were using a marine gas can in the back of the jeep to run it when they drove it but I left that there when I picked it up. Definately a diamond in the rough but the jeep sits up nice – tires are dry rotted but hold air. Pictures available upon request and if I have time later this evening I will post a few. I was keeping this one to fix up but have found a different project for $800 that I would like to buy instead. dangaruss@comcast.net.”

1945 Militarized CJ-2A – Sanford, ME **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, MB • TAGS: , .

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $14,500

“Newly restored ”cloned Willys MB. This is a 1945 CJ2A modified to look like a 1944 MB. It is 99% done. It needs a little touch-up on the paint and a rear seat. I spent Thousands of dollars on new parts. I have all records of purchased items. I put one size larger tires on it to increase fuel mileage and travel speed. It runs and drives like new. The engine is smoke free and I changed the voltage to a 12-volt system for better lighting and dependability. I also added turn signals and a second rear brake light for safety. I also added new style seat belts to make it a safer vehicle. The entire Willys has been sandblasted primed and painted with late WW11 319 OD. I spent many hours disguising the CJ2A look. I would like to keep all the bags and supply’s that are all over it. The Shovel, Axe, Jerry can, rope and spare tire will stay with it.I still need to install the battery hold down. The top and seats are brand new, they are thicker than originals to make the ride a bit smoother. I also have a new glove box to install to make the dash look like the MB. The drive train is the way I bought it, so I don’t know how many miles are on them, but it goes down the road smooth.( I love it). The only reason for selling it is, I recently found a real 1942 GPW that needs restoring. I put about 1500 miles on it these past few months with no problems. The odometer reads about 7,000 miles. This is a nice vehicle that will last a long time with some care. Please call with any questions or if you want more pictures …. I also have some CJ3A parts for sale: Fisher plow set-up, complete windshield with new gaskets, new wiper motors, tool box cover, heater unit, new front seat frames, and complete drive line”

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A

UPDATE:  Still Available.

If the seller really has 3.56 gearing, I’d like to know more about the tranny.  I also wonder if the OD trans is really a warn OD?  Seems a bit redundant to have both 3.56 gearing and the OD.  Toledo Or is west of Corvallis, Or, almost all the way to the coast.  Given the location, I imagine the seller will have to drop the price.

Builds: Jim finds a nice old CJ-3B

• CATEGORIES: Builds, CJ-3B • TAGS: .

Jim, take it away and thanks for sharing!

So I got a call today, woman says she has a1953 plow jeep she wants to get rid of. She said her deceased father, a mechanic, owned it for more than 40 years and used it to plow his business etc. When I hear plow jeep, Im thinking piece of rusty crap thats been worked to death etc. I have a driveway thats 1/3 of a mile long and I will need a plow this winter so I went to take a look.

Man, was I shocked, a completely (except orange paint) original 1953 CJ3B, 6 volt, uncut, runs great, has brakes, chains on all four studded tires, nice original seats, 15″ stock wheels, no rust to speak of, super straight, soft top frame with a tarp over it, still has the snap in carpet kit. Some one had obviously loved it for many, many years. Under that layer of dust is a really nice jeep and after a long heart to heart talk, its now mine for very little money!

I brought it home and tested it out.  Everything works great, brakes, heater etc but there is a weird knocking on the engine, seems to come go at time so Im thinking someone dropped a bolt or something into the carb and it is knocking on top of a piston. I will know for sure when I pull the head in a few days but overall it is in excellent condition. I couldnt tell you the last time I bought a flat fender with a full on complete snap in carpet kit, very cool!

Can be road ready with very little TLC or do the complete restoration. There is light surface rust at the roof gutters, rear wheel openings but other than that it is a very nice California Willy’s. I ran across this electric vehicle named Jazzy owned by Jim Stack.  It appears to be an ‘VEEP’ Kit with a fiberglass body.  It is powered by an Advanced DC FB-4001 Series Wound DC 9.  It runs in 3rd gear and never needs to be shifted, according to the owner.  The top speed is 70MPH with a total range of about 50MPH.  There are 10 Trojan T-105 now SG90’s, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded very minimal battery pack for 30 mile range. All located under center of chassis for stable road handling, great G holding on corners.  View all the information here.

My Build: Roll Cage Day 2

• CATEGORIES: Biscuit

Well, I didn’t get as much progress done today as I planned (like I ever do?), mostly because I slept in — way in!  I spent much of the afternoon, moving, measuring, leveling, thinking and then removing, remeasuring, releveling … I think you get the picture.  It took me a while to realize that my windshield is a little crooked and that was throwing me off a little.  Once I figured that out,  I started making progress.

The first thing I did today was to brace the loops into place so I could start adding supports.  I did some cross tubes first.  This helped square the loops, which were off about half an inch each.  Once that was done, I started on the rear supports.  I’ve got a little grinding left on the driver’s side left rear piece then it will be ready to be tacked into place.

For my tube intersections, I’ve been using this tube coping calculator.  I found it off just slightly, but close enough to be of real value.  I taped the paper to a thin piece of cardboard (my Haagen Dazs Ice Cream boxes work great — A great excuse to get Dark Chocolate/Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Bars).

rollcage_joint_template

Tomorrow evening I’ll complete the back area and start to work on the top side pieces.

Here’s the only pic I have from tonight.
