1947 CJ-2A Avondale, Az $2700

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A

1947_cj2a_avondaleThis jeep has some great drive train upgrades.  With the seller willing to negotiate, this might become a pretty good deal for someone.

“I have a ’47-ish Willys jeep for sale. It has a Buick 225, SM420(I think), Dana 300, Dana 30 front, Dana 44 rear. The Willys needs a little work; the headlights need to be installed and wired and the cooling system needs help. The wiring is very simple, a few butt connectors and everything will light right up. I think the radiator needs to be flushed to clear a few blocked tubes, nothing major. The battery will need to be charged, but the Willys starts and runs just fine; ‘tiI it gets too hot. I have a clear AZ title that is ready to be notarized and turned over to the buyer. Because it is a 1947 vehicle no emissions are required. With a little work this Willys will be a great little machine. Let me know if you’re interested. $2700 OBO. I’m willing to negotiate a reasonable price, please reply with your phone number. Thanks, JN Crowe.”

Very minimal rust spots on seat. My loss is your gain. I bought it for a project car and know I won’t get around to it. This jeep is really clean compared to most projects. Others have been parked in a field exposed to the elements. Great restoration shape. Many more pictures on demand if you are serious about purchase. You will need to salvage title as none exists. 1942 MB Chico, Ca $2250

• CATEGORIES: MB

UPDATE: Price dropped to $2250

This ad includes links to a variety of upclose images.  I think it gives a pretty honest look at the vehicle (wish all ads were this good).

“1942 Willy’s Jeep (flat fender) with Chevy 350 engine, new Borg Warner T150 transmission, Advanced adapter plate to engine/bell housing, transfer case bearings new, new battery & Quadrajet carburator, fuel filter & line. The engine has double hump 2.02″ heads and I was told it was out of a ‘70’s Corvette. The tires have a ton of tread on them and look like they’re very new. The motor turns over easily and idles just like a V8 should. This Jeep is setup well with Saginaw power steering, line locker parking brake and 2 jerry can 5 gallon fuel can holders. Since it’s a Military Jeep, it’s also got the shovel storage on the driver’s side.”

Jim’s 1946 CJ-2A Durango, Co eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: .

1946_cj2a_durangoJim’s selling his hot rod.  Jeeps seem to be like cats, you never real own them, only take care of them for a while.

“This is our beast, our grunt wagon, I took this heavily modified Jeep in trade on a full military M38 jeep I was selling a couple years ago thinking that I had no interest in a V8 powered Willys. Then I started driving it, and playing with it, and liking it, really liking it, it is a beast, a powerhouse, it is the grunt wagon. I’ll try to list everything that’s been modified, rebuilt, changed etc, the list is long. A little warning here, please don’t buy this rig for your teenage son, it has way too much power for someone lacking experience. I would have killed myself in this thing at that age as nearly 300 HP in a 2400lb short wheel base, lifted flat fender jeep does not have a very large margin of error. ”

Builds — 1945 GPW spotted by Jalopnik.com

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB)

1945_gpw_alameda2I was playing around with a new internet toy called cooliris (I was using a plug-in version for the Firefox browser) and came across this 1945 GPW spotted and photographed in Alameda, California by Jalopnik.com.

I scratched my head and stared at the hood.  Do I like the diamond plating on top or not … hmmm .. I figure it’s there for a reason, as the top of the hood is likely trashed.  After scratching my head at it a bit, I decided I liked it, not because it’s a work of art, but because it’s entirely practical.  With a strong roll cage, a winch, and other improvements, this 4×4 looks ready for a jeeping adventure.

Giant Flatfender Jeep in Dubai

• CATEGORIES: Artists/Drawings, Features, Monuments/Statues, Museums

UPDATE:  Joshua alerted me to The May edition of JP Magazine.  It provides some information on the giant jeep shown below. The jeep is located in Dubai.  I thought it was just a fake prop of some kind, but apparently it’s being built on the framework of a large quarry mining truck.  Click here to read the brief news piece in JP Magazine (scroll halfway down).

Old Willys Image Archive — Brian finds a treasure trove

• CATEGORIES: Bantam-FordGP-WillysMA-EarlyJPs, Website • TAGS: , .

Our eWillys Michigan bureau, lead by Brian (and staffed only by Brian), uncovered a treasure trove of images, most I haven’t seen before, of early jeep demonstrations, publicity images and more.

Brian writes, “the source is the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library and, best of all, it is free!!!   Here is the Search link   http://66.213.36.25/.  To Link to the library image collection explanation, go here http://www.toledolibrary.org/collection/images.asp.  I think one of the best sets are the Farm Jeep trials in New Hudson Michigan..Wow”

Here is some of the searches he has done: (Willys jeeps) (willys workers) (Jeep automobiles) (farm Jeep) (Willys factory) (Military).

Here’s some of the images found using the search term “jeep” — note that the term search term jeep doesn’t yield other pictures that I saw while surfing this site this morning.

I’m not sure I’d want to be in the vehicle in the pic below….
