“1962 Willys M170 Ambulance with title. This is one of approx. 1500 examples ever produced, they are VERY rare. THE SOFT TOP SHOWN IN PICTURES IS NOT INCLUDED.
This is a VERY ROUGH Project. I bought thinking I’d make a rat rod Jeep, but too many other projects so it’s time to move on. Currently it has a 4.3 engine, transmission, transfer case from Chevy S10 blazer mocked into position. I have the complete wiring harness. It has an Art Morrison 9″ rear differential housing and shafts, but no 3rd member. It has a Jeep D30 front axle sitting underneath. No steering hooked up, no other drivetrain pieces. This thing is rusty, patched together, bondo smeared all over, etc. It’s VERY ROUGH. But, on the good side, it does included CLEAR WASHINGTON STATE TITLE AND COLLECTOR VEHICLE PLATES. I have lots of other misc. parts, radiator, steering column, etc. Otherwise, what’s shown is pretty much what you get, EXCEPT SOFT TOP.”
No updates tonight. I did find a pair of $25 combat rims during a quick search today, but apparently they sold quickly.

Jim plans to purchase a CJ-5 and drive it a few thousand miles home. He asked me what tires/rims I would recommend for driving on the road, because the jeep currently has NDT tires. I gave him some suggestions, however my research has been more focused on 10″ rims and tires. Anyone have some suggestions for tires they like? He might also be interested in selling the NDT tires and rims that are on it, which appear in good shape.

“1947 Willy’s CJ2A. This jeep is in good condition. It is set up as a military vehicle with a Beachwood Canvas top.
The engine, transmission, clutch, brakes, and generator have been rebuilt. New carburator and fuel pump. Tires are good- spare has never been on ground. All of the gauges work and the horn does too. Superwinch lock out front hubs.

There is a problem with the tranny.
“I am selling a nice 1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep. The jeep is in good shape for its age, It’s had a hard top on it for years which I just took off as it was not in very good shape so there is no gone through rust that I can see in the floors. There is a little rust in the hat channels but not very much. The motor is an original early Flat head four cylinder and it starts right up and runs VERY good. Doesn’t seem to smoke and purrs like a kitten. I went out to start it today and it was about 30 degrees out and it fired right up and ran great… The transmission will shift into first and reverse but wont go in second or third for some reason. I have another complete transmission with transfer case that is in good shape that I will give the new owner, and it shifts through all the gears. I have new hubs for the jeep and its also the original 6v electrical system!! Sold as is, I have a clear Colorado title for the jeep. Its located in Crawford Colorado but I can ship to Colorado springs or if you are somewhere close to Colorado. If you have any questions please call me at (970-210-0680)”

“The dashboard is in great condition with no cuts or holes made to it. It has a Buick V6. The glass is ok, one of the windshields has a split and one of the wing widows has a crack. All other glass is good. Has original working heater.Tires are good. Has a few small dents/dings but no major damage or rust. (Keep in mind it’s 58 years old!) Has collector plates.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** $150 … note the piece across the front of the rear wheel wells. I’ve seen similar installs on other jeeps. Unclear if this was an aftermarket piece or not.

Len says he became a jeep fan while watching episodes of MASH. Despite being interested in jeeps, he waited to buy his first jeep. Finally, three years ago, he took the plunge and found a 1942 GPW in Eastern Oregon. He brought it back to his home near Seattle to start a rebuild. He thought it would take one year. But, as many jeep enthusiasts learn, it took him more time than expected. Now at the end of year three, he is almost done. Though he has learned a lot, he swears he will never do another jeep rebuild.
The jeep itself had a pretty rough body, probably because it was raced for a short while. However, the front of the frame and frame horns were in amazingly great shape and original. Every part of the jeep has been pulled apart and rebuilt. His goal has been to build a jeep out of original, rather than replacement parts. The engine runs well and sounds great.
Len believes the small pits and dents in the body and fenders adds a nice historical feel to the project. Amazingly, he has managed to locate a variety of parts out of junkyards around the Seattle area. For example, he has found two original pintle hitches from junk yards. He has found all kinds of F stamped bolts. He found a prototype, pre combat, rim. He found a headlight bucket. The list of parts he found was surprising!
One of the most amazing stories he told was that the jeep didn’t come with a hood that matched the original body. Since the hood was in poor shape, one of the things he began looking for was a better hood. One of his buddies mentioned that his father had a GPW hood. Len picked up the hood and was stunned to see it had striping similar to his jeep. When he got it back to his garage he discovered the hood matched the body exactly! After Len investigated things further, it turned out his friend’s father had sold the jeep to the guy in Oregon. So, Len now had the original hood of the jeep. Even better, the original hood numbers were still readable. Talk about a small world!
Len’s goal with his jeep is to complete the rebuild, drive it for a few years, and then donate it to Fort Lewis, because the Fort’s museum doesn’t have a WWII jeep in it, though it does have later models. Len still needs a few more items to complete his build, one being a ford script driver’s seat. I’ve got a lead on one for him, but if anyone knows of any others, please comment below.
Len mentioned that his wife has been a big support of his effort, though their agreement includes one demand by her: She gets to drive it first. Congrats on the great rebuild.

“ A very unique Willys Jeep FC-170.
Bought new in Oregon by a rancher – story told he bought it new and then had the engine swapped out to a Hercules 6 cylinder because it had many more H.P. Then he had a professional welder fabricator build a hauling container on the back for hauling two horses, two cows, or maybe just one Rhino.
It has not been running for about 9 years. It has been kept in a heated storage unit for last 7 years. One cab corner needs to be replaced but they do make reproduction replacements. Right side glass needs to be replaced also.
There is a Winch under the truck and rollers under each bumper so you can winch from the front or the rear. There are doors on both sides of the hauling box for putting hay in there for the animals. It has a snorkel air cleaner, snorkel oil breather, and a snorkel gas fill. The welds are very high quality – you can’t even see any grinding marks.This truck can cross rivers!
The tailgate is operated through a pulley system with a really cool antique crank. And it really works. Check out the pictures! The seats were recovered early on, so the original upholstery is still on the seats. I will add other oddities as I think of them.””
