(09/30/2011) This is a running jeep, though it runs on propane.  It sounds like it might be a good deal, though it needs a few things.

“The Willys is a 1947 CJ2A. I picked it up near Fresno last year with no eng and trans. I found an orig T90 and Dana 18. in Wickenberg AZ. At this point I was going to restore it back to original I was unable to find a flat head 134.
I made the decision change the engine.
I changed it from a 78 truck 30k on the engine. Re-sealed the engine converted it to run on propane with Impaco 425 kit . I used Novak adapters for the trans and engine mounts a new Griffin aluminum radiator. The Willy’s starts and runs you can drive it. All it needs is a electric fan and an exhaust to be done.”

I had hoped to do updates tonight, but after a busy and successful day in Denver, I am wiped.  I will do updates tomorrow on the road as we head back to Nebraska.  We hope to make it to Omaha before the snow storm descends upon us.

I did want to thank James for inviting Ann and I to see his project (pictures tomorrow).  I also wanted to thank Guy for his invitation to tour the Pikes Peak International Raceway, which I will have to delay until my next visit to Colorado Springs.

Here are a couple pics from Casa Bonita, which is a fun tourist trap in Denver.  We had a great time.  The first pic is Ann and I and the second one is me doing the Mamba (strangely, I was the only adult doing the Mamba …).  We have pics of the cliff divers, but they came out a bit too dark.

I made my first ascent of Pike’s Peak today. Accompanied by Ann and her nephew Michaes, we braved the beautiful blue skies and perfect temperatures to wind our way to the 14,110 foot summit.  From Colorado Springs it took about an hour to reach the peak.  Three things surprised me about the ascent.  1) The toll road cost $39 to drive (car plus 3 passengers); 2) Santa’s workshop sits at the base of Pike’s Peak (who knew)?; 3) The concessionaire at the top of the peak is famous for its donuts (which were pretty good).

This vehicle has been in storage since 2002 in an enclosed garage. New brakes, new tires and rims and new am/fm cassette were all installed in 2002. We just recently installed a new battery and fuel filter. She runs great. We started her up and drove her to a nearby gas station for a fill-up. Lots of fun to drive and gets lots of attention. This is a project, but the engine spins.

“I decided to sell a project I had aquired a few years ago from an estate sale, but haven’t had the time to even get started on it. It’s a 1960 Willy’s Wagon that looks like someone started to put a 1980 CJ 258 – 6 cylinder engine and 3 speed trans in but didn’t get any further–no drive shafts. They also pulled the interior and side glass out, but it looks like most, if not all of it was left inside, including the seats. It must have been sitting untouched for years, but the engine can be turned over by hand. Can’t start it because it lacks a starter and distributor. Body is straight with a couple minor dings and surface rust. Don’t see any body rot or cancerous rust. I have the original title for it. This Jeep was brought back from the Vietnam war by a Four Stars Army General who currently resides in Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego county.
The Jeep was his personal transportation during the war. The name of the General will not be released due to privacy reasons.
The General completely restored it and kept it maintained.

This has a few issues, including a brushed on paint.

“Up for auction with no reserve is a cj2a it is titled in 47 but built in 46 serial number 50509.  The jeep looks great from 5 feet away but paint was brushed on.  It starts right up with no problems but smokes and drives great steering is very tight and it has turn signals.  The jeep is converted to 12v the tub is in very good shape but would need some work to beable to put in car shows the fenders are unbelievable how solid they are it comes with 2 windshields and 2 hoods please look at the pictures.  I just got it so I am limited on what info I will know about its history”
