Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This appears to be a solid jeep that was restored with care. But, to label this ‘museum quality’ is, well, to put it gently — with great restraint — is inaccurate (for starters, too many non-original parts). Also, ‘Light Green’ is not one of three colors of a 1946 CJ-2A of that vintage (that is, post vin#38221); instead there were 6 color schemes (all listed at the CJ-2A Page’s history section).
“For sale is a restored 1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. The Jeep’s body and visible parts were restored to show quality. All engine parts were kept spec. Jeep runs great and is stored in a garage all year long. The following is a list of stock parts and upgrades: Complete engine restoration, New windshield, New gauges, New Paint (1946 Light Green) one of 3 original colors, 4 New Non-Directional Tires, New gas tank, New brakes (Hand brake also works). Odometer was not working when the vehicle was bought. It is unknown how long the odometer was not working. Odometer has since been fixed. Approximately 50 miles or less on the restored motor.”

(12/15/2010) This looks in decent condition, but needs some work.
“1948 Jeep Willys CJ2a 4×4 ( great for a rock crawler project? ); 4 cyl ( looks like all original drivetrain ); Aluminum wheels & tires come with it. 4×4; Clean body for a 1948 have looked at a few in vegas this one is nice for the money. Needs work not a driver. Was told it ran a year ago cranks over but needs fuel line work and fuel tank cleaned out, Also ignition switch missing. Email for more pics. Clean Nevada Title.”
Rudolf, a native of Holland, has moved to the island of Bali in Indonesia. There, he stumbled on this unusual 6×6 last month. Well, I guess he has found some other WWII flatties. He thought readers might be interested in purchasing them if the export/import can be worked out.

According to the seller, this is restored except for the paint. No indication as to whether the numbers match or not.

This runs. It might be good price. Maybe its my eyes, but there are a few details that suggest this needs a closer look (the mbish tow bar, the lack of holes for the front parking lights, and the gas inlet seems a little small), but maybe I’m just sleepy.

(07/16/2010) Pretty unusual. Something unusual has been done with the grille as well. The tines appear to shape outwords.

“For your consideration a 1952 Willys M38a1 military jeep. Serial # 17543, dod. 9/52, making it an early example with the thumbscrew battery box lid, hinged front grill, rare original slanted seam front fenders, and the narrow early bumper undamaged.
Runs great, with no smoke or knocks. The engine is totally original with the 24 volt system and all waterproof accessories (distributor, carb, generator, regulator). Transmission and transfer case shift smoothly and quietly. Brakes are inoperative due to bad master cylinder.
Was a municipal vehicle used for off road search and rescue (seldom) It was well maintained and not abused, spent most of its time in storage. Has the original seats, cushions, rear seat, and 50’s dated tires. (pass seat not shown but included) Body has very minimal rust, surface rust mostly in a few spots, and a couple small dings. Frame and springs are excellent. Has all original dashboard and data plates. Windshield frame is very good shape also.
Would make an excellent easy restoration candidate, as it has not been modified in civilian hands. Never had a snowplow mounted. Never had locking hubs installed. Never been registered on the road. Has one of the best original condition body’s that I have seen”

“I have to sell my beloved cj3a. It is in amazing shape for as old as it is. Gets TONS of attention and is tottally streetable.
1951 Cj3a; chevy 4.3 tbi engine; Frame boxed in for strength; Dana 44 front and rear axles with 5.38 gears, rear spool front detroit locker, rear axle converted to disc brake. Muncie 4 speed tranny with granny low 1st, mated to a dana 18 t case. t- case is built with dana 20 internals for stronger intermediate shaft. It also has a advanved adapters over drive so it cuts each gear in half, essentially giving you 16 forward and 4 reverse gears.
Body is in excellent shape with no cancer or rust. Full roll cage, newer 36in super swampers. Suspension is spring over axle, using wrangler springs. front shackle reversal. it flexes AMAZING with tons of droop. This truck runs awesome. I need the money, and have too many vehicles. i dont have time to wheel it anymore. It drives around town fine and does about 70 on the highway no problem. I hate to see it go. Goose wrote me an email today, announcing he had finished the restoration of his CJ-3B. Not only did he complete his budget-conscious restoration in only 4 months, but he also documented it in two different locations (see links below); not a trivial task! He’s done a good amount of work in a short time and I think he’ll be happy with it for quite a while. Well done Goose!
