Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This fiberglass body looks in very good shape.

(11/24/2010) This looks like a serious project.
“Though partially dismantled, this 1955 Jeep CJ3B is in fair condition but needs a new tub. Someone in its past really took good care of it but put carpeting on the floor. The person I bought it from had left it sitting outside for a couple of years so the wet carpet rotted the floors. The frame underneath is in great condition still. The original motor is complete but not running. It also has a PTO winch.
All-in-all, it would not be hard to restore or upgrade this little monster. I bought this 3B about 3 years ago, parked it in my garage, and started taking it apart. Around the same time, I took on a new job that has since absorbed the majority of my life. So now I feel I must get rid of some projects, this being one of them.”

I’ve lightened the pictures as best I can. This body looks like a CJ-2A/3a with a 3B windshield. The rims might be decent. The hood has clearly been modified. I can’t tell much else.

(11/14/2010) Based on the grille, this seems more likely to be a mid to later CJ-2A rather than a 1946. The body appears in good shape.
“Up for auction is a 1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. 1946 is the first year that civilian Jeeps where built. The Jeep is complete other that missing a windshield. Several pictures have been taken to show the condition. It has solid body and frame. The body does not have rust or Bondo (It has surface rust only). It does have a new gas tank. I have never started the jeep but it will turn over by hand. The radiator and engine are full of antifreeze. This jeep does have a clear title. (10/24/2010) This jeep could use a bath, but appears to be a solid jeep improved for the street and trail. Among the updates are free floating rear hubs, a tilt wheel and a full cage.

Or, a reader from Israel, has been trying to locate more information (especially the model number) about the Compact Willys Truck I have temporarily labeled a Tender. While doing that research, he spotted a brief clip of some Willys Wagons, Trucks and the Kaizer-Ilin plant in Israel (but no Compact Willys Trucks visible).

UPDATE: A reader contacted me about this Jeep.
He wrote, “The same jeep was listed some time ago and I contacted the seller. Long story short he sends out fake invoices from a know eBay scam address (email is listed on eBay’s security page as scam) I nearly fell for it but luckily did my homework before sending the money!”

“This is a low mileage original 1945 Willys MB Jeep. I bought this Jeep from the original family in 2005. It was in a heated storage area for the last 35 years. I am the second owner of this fine piece.
This MB still has all original canvas seats cushions, crash pads, door straps, original data plates and the original windshield glass (with dates). The Jeep also has all (5) of its original Goodyear tires with the synthetic S3 markings. This is one of the nicest untouched MB’s.
