Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (10/10/09) There’s nothing I see to indicate this is a M-38 body, accept for the dash panel. But, it’s missing the battery box lid, the jockey box in the dash, drain holes, and a gas inlet at the very least.

“A good winter project, flat OD green, orginal 4 cylinder flathead motor and drivetrain would make a cool hunting jeep. Needs a battery and some TLC but runs and drives pretty good, has brakes, has brand new mud/snow 6.50X16 tires, I have an excellent windshield frame with good glass and extras like ammo cans, military gas can, spare wheel etc. I also have a brand new set of military canvas seats that could be bought separate or maybe part of the deal. No title, just a bill of sale. If you need a title you can get one through broadway title or one of the other title companies, cost $120 and takes 10 days.”

I ran across the image below of a Mahindra-built Military CJ-3B on the team-bhp site. After a few searches, I learned that the image came from the CJ-3B Page, which has the below image plus some additional images showing work that was done at UDAY’s shop in India. According to the CJ-3B page, this vehicle shouldered a 106mm gun. Given this fire power, the owner, Anirban, calls the Jeep ‘Agni’, which means the God of Fire. It’s a good name I think.

There’s still a few things that need fixing. The pics are too blurry to assess condition.

Nothing major and easy fixes.It needs the orig. gas tank, a tie rod end,and seat cushions. I have put a new master cylinder,points and cond. and changed all of the fluids. In additions I have painted it and had the inside spryed with bedliner material. I would love cash but would be interested in trading for old cars , trucks, or something fun. “1946 CJ2A. Western vehicle, stored winters, very solid. Has three speed column shift. Comes with both aluminum hard and original soft top. Heater works. Jeep is blue, but original green paint shows in some locations. Third photo shows tool box floor – only surface rust, not rusted through like you find in many. Family owned for many years prior to my purchase. Starts and runs, stops fine. Shifting is a bit tricky and could use adjustment, but otherwise good to go. This was going to be a keeper, but unfortunately I need to sell. I’m pretty firm on price, but will entertain reasonable offers. Serious inquiries only please. (01/13/2010) This ran before they bought it ….
“1958 FC170, 6 cyl. (loose but not currently running), 9 ft box (fair condition / patches of rust on the box floor), the rest of the body is pretty solid and complete with original glass. The truck is rolling, we haven’t had the time to dig into it much with our willy truck projects. The motor was running the year before we bought it, the drivetrain is all moving freely and looks quite serviceable. We have the title and if it helps can provide the ID#. We can take any additional photo’s you might like of the jeep and happy to answer any questions. From what I understand there were only 15,000 of these made during the production run, there’s still a lot of truck left in this one for someone looking for a good project.

This has some serious rust. However, I think I see some tool indents, which suggests a VEC.
