1946 VEC CJ-2A Brooklyn Center, Mn **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1400.

I think new paint would help this VEC tremendously.  The seller claims to have all the column shift parts.

1946 willys cj2a jeep, serial number 25786, engine number 26797 (4cyl) original. This jeep starts and runs but is not an everyday driver. The 4 wheel drive works in high and low. The jeep blows a little smoke and needs some brake work. The fenders, hood and frame are in good shape with no rust through that I can see and very little surface rust. If you were going to restore the jeep you would probably have to get a new tub. The tub it has now has rust through in the floor and is very rough. I have lots of extra parts that will go with the jeep, this includes: A NEW WIRING HARNESS (IN THE BOX), TRANSMISSIONS AND TRANSFER CASES, GASKETS, AND A NEW MASTER CYLINDER. (there are more parts that I am not going to list) This jeep has a very low serial number and was originally a column shifter. It was converted to a floor shifter but I think that I have all of the parts to change it back.”

1948 CJ-2A Scottsdale, AZ **SOLD**

1948_cj2a_scottsdaleUPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500.

“I bought the car in 1998, and I spent six years restoring it down to the frame. I have most, if not all receipts, amounting to roughly $28,000 investment, but truthfully it was as much a hobby project as it was a toy after the fact. A few years ago I was offered 30k for it, but I just couldn’t part with it at the time. I don’t drive it much. It stays garaged except for the weekly ’round the block drive. It had an early 60’s 265 cid, I replaced it with a 1972 327cid – 350 HP motor (from a corvette) overhauled by Greulich of Scottsdale (builder of professional grade racing engines.. several have powered winning racing machines at Firebird Raceway and elsewhere)….”

1960 DJ-3A Tulsa, Ok **SOLD**

UPDATE: Price dropped to $350. I doubt this was ever a Gala, but it does seem to be a DJ-3A.  **SOLD**

The price is right!  This seems like a deal to me.

We our selling a 1960 Willys DJ-3A Surrey Gala. We bought it mainly for the body to build a rock crawler out of it. The origional color was pink. It has a CJ-2A windshield on it with an old Aluminum Hardtop (rare). This is a normal left hand drive 2wd Willys Jeep. The front axle is a straight axle and rides on leaf springs just like the 4wd Jeeps. It has a motor, but is missing many of the parts like the oil pan, head, etc. It is the Go devil Flathead 4 backed by a 3spd manual column shift trans with OverDrive. Since this is a DJ3A the rear of the Jeep is solid with no tail gate, this is factory. It does have all of the steering pieces and as a whole is pretty darn complete. Feel free to come check it out and make us an offer. The frame is in very good shape and the tub would easily be restorable. The floors are even in pretty good shape. The hood is probably the worst part (dented). These are very rare and it has all of its factory serial data plates. Comes with only a bill of sale.”

I just installed a recently rebuilt L head engine and this truck runs great.”

This might not be a bad price if the body is in very good shape.

“Pictured below is a 1944 Willys MB Military Jeep. It has what I believe to be is the original T84 transmission and Spicer 18 transfer case. The engine is not the original L head. Someone has replaced the original engine with a Willys F head. The windshield frame is from a M38. Overall the vehicle is in pretty good shape for its age. It runs and drives really well. Lug Nuts

• CATEGORIES: Features, Vendors, Website

A reader asked about finding chromed lug nuts that had right and left hand threaded types.

I responded with this information:

I got my lug nuts from my local schucks store.  They carry the Mr Lugnut brand.  I needed to get some special ones due to the thickness of my cast aluminum rims.  However, I only needed right handed threads and not lefty’s.

Here’s a page that might be helpful too It appears they have both right and left hand threaded chrome bolts that will cover the whole stud. Another thought (which doesn’t sound like much fun) is to knock out the left hand threaded studs and just go with right handed ones all around?”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2800.

A reader named Terry alerted me to this sale.

1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep Serial Number 56566

I am selling this Jeep because I am ill with a progressing brain disease and there is more work to be done on this Jeep than I expected. Transmission is inoperable, locked in neutral, and needs replacement or rebuilding. Steering gear needs work. Engine is perfection, runs like a dream.  I originally purchased it with the idea that it would take the place of my Ural, so I could continue going out sight-seeing and exploring. … The Jeep’s original flathead, four-cylinder engine (engine #103462) has less than 300 miles on it since being completely rebuilt.”

1952 CJ-3A? Lake Forest, CA **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5500.

This looks more like a M-38 to me, but I can’t tell conclusively.

1952 Jeep CJ3A. This jeep has a 1955 F head engine instead of the original flat head engine. I have lots of extra parts I bought at a military auction many years ago. I have a soft top for it. This Jeep has NO rust and ran great last time I went hunting in it which was 1994. it has been stored inside ever since. Even the interior is good. I put in a new gas tank with non corrosive liner. It needs a battery and most likely will need a carburetor rebuild from sitting so long and will have years of trouble free hunting or whatever. It’s not fast (max 50 mph) but it will climb a tree.”
