Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Complete Power Take Off unit originally designed for 80″ wheelbase jeeps (CJ2A, CJ3A, and CJ3B). Bolts right up to Spicer/Dana 18 transfer case. Includes shifter assembly, driveshaft, and bumper assembly with safety guard. Also includes homemade extension to install on 81″ wheelbase jeeps like CJ5 and FC-150 (CJ5s from 1955-1971. Here’s a nicely restored CJ-2A.
“This is a 1947 Willys Jeep CJ2A; I purchased this jeep from an individual in 2003 and spent until 2006 restoring it; I stripped it down to the bare frame and started all over from the beginning; it has the original frame, but has been beefed up in the spots that were rusted; all new springs, shocks, brakes, brake cylinders, brake lines, master cylinder, rebuilt entire steering system, steering is nice and tight; original rims with new tires and a spare; front and rear axle are original, but completely rebuilt; engine has been completely overhauled and runs perfect; new exhaust system; ….”

Here’s a seller who wants all this to go to a single buyer. There’s an entire plow setup. If there’s an overdrive in all this, then this might be a deal worth investigating. Besides, it’s got a cool flashy light.

Overdrive’s don’t appear too often. Here’s a chance to snag a rare Borg Warner overdrive. Most of the overdrives that appear for sale are the Warn/Saturn style overdrive, which mount behind the input shaft of the transfercase. The Borg Warner overdrive mounts along the output shaft (or better put, intercepts the output shaft). Learn more about overdrives here.

This is a nice, solid looking CJ-3B.
“This is a 1958 Jeep Willys High Hood, it’s my grandpa’s jeep, and it is in very good condition. Starts right up, and the engine runs good. Tires are in great condition, tred is all there. The interior isnt very old, maybe 6 years or so. This jeep has been kept in storage the whole time he’s had it. Unless you count the occasional 4 mile trip to another garage. Please call my grandpa for questions, he will know more about it.”

I’m attempting to find a website that discusses this Willys/Jeep Truck/Van thingy. My guess, based on our reader from Israel, is that this is an international vehicle.
So far, I have had no luck finding information about it. However, in the process of my search, I did stumble upon a great website about Trucks: JeepTruck.com. There are features, trucks and parts for sale, a comprehensive links page, and more.
This looks like a good price.

The seller refers to this as a project, but then says this runs and drives great. Given this has a Warn OD, this looks to be a great price.

“This truck is a project my friend started but was unable to finish for health reasons. As the photos show it is comepletly disassembled. all of the parts pictured come with the truck. The suspension has all been changed. The rear end is mustang and has had new leaf springs installed. A complete new straight axle kit from Speedway was jnstalled on the front with all new bearings, bushings, brake calipers and mustang rotors. the kit cost over $1000.00. Frame has been partially boxed, but needs finished and is set up for chevy big block with 400 trans. The driveshaft for this setup is included. Wheels are Eagle alloy 18″. Tires are Falken ZIEX ZE512s with 255/45ZR18s on back and 245/40ZR18s on front….”

“Heres my 1948 CJ-2A for sale that I acquired in July of 1992. Now its 62 years old Its a 4 cyl L head as it should be with original 3spd, and 4wd.Kept indoors before I had it and has been garaged the whole time I’ve owned it. Runs and drives. The earlymb.com website snuck up on me. I didn’t think there was much here, but the more I dug, the more I found. There’s an extensive book list, link list, a list on the differences between a GPW and MB, a list on the differences between an MB and a Hotchkiss M201, pics and more.
The website’s owner, David appears to live in the Netherlands. He shows many pics from a jeep he restored, but it doesn’t appear to be the same jeep that’s on the front page.
I tested a few of the links for the list of links, and at least some were out of date.
I found this build through Usenet of all places (long story) on Pirate 4×4. What I liked about it was that this body was pretty much toast, but the builder has done a nice job of resurrecting it for his project. Below is a picture of his replacement hat channels and replacement of the triangle piece at the front of the body.
There’s plenty of pics and plenty of customization. It’s definitely a project still.
