Here’s another great, efficient makeover by Boswell International (catchy, isn’t it?). Jim ought to have this on ebay in the next couple of days.

This is a continuing series on Dan’s efforts to rebuild his Grandfather’s jeep. Here’s the previous post. [Editor’s note – that looks like a steal at $100. Running and complete!]
Dan writes, “Sometime in the 1960’s my grandfather’s friend purchased a new Jeep and immediately swapped out the little four banger for a V8. My grandfather bought the new (at the time) 134 F head from his friend and installed it in his own 1955 CJ5 replacing the tired original 134. Over the years this second engine was rebuilt three or four times.
At one point in time my grandfather had a V6 of some kind sitting in the garage that was supposed to go into the Jeep. Unfortunately when he made the move from Colorado to Washington State, the V6 was left behind.
Today I just came home with an engine for the old CJ5. It’s a Kaiser odd-fire Dauntless V6. I found it behind a barn in a Jeepster C101 sporting a Volkswagen Bug body. (It was the ugliest “Jeep” I have ever seen). But the engine was still in tact and was running when parked. I made the guy an offer for $100. He pulled the engine and had it sitting on a pallet for me the next week. I took home everything from the radiator to the bell housing. He wanted the transmission which is fine with me. Someone had painted the valve covers red but you can see the original paint underneath. There was a power steering pump scabbed on which I will remove since I have a manual Saginaw box. It will be nice to breath the life into the CJ5 that my grandfather had wanted.
Originally, I had responded to a Craigslist add for a set of fenders. As it turned out I came home with a set of front fenders, a nice Koenig steel hard top model 550, and a Dauntless V6. He still has a Koenig PTO winch that I’m drooling over, but they don’t fit too well next to a Saginaw box.
I have attached a few pictures of the V6. In one of them you can catch a glimpse of the old CJ5 in the garage.
UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was $550.
(08/26/09) “Up for sale is a 1950 Willy’s Jeep Station Wagon Trailer. I have used it for a vendor trailer selling auto parts at swap meets in the past and for storage to keep items out of the weather. The interior is open with one large shelf and several drawers underneath for extra storage. The glass has been replaced with plywood which I just applied a fresh coat of paint to. The rear window is the only one remaining on the trailer. The tires are in good shape and it has a spare tire.”
I’ll bet this has seen the Naches trail a few times.

This appears to be in good condition.
“1947 willys jeep CJ2A 4×4 runs great.Everything works. 3500.00 OBO
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was Make Offer.
“This is a 1949 Willy’s Jeep that is owned by my wife’s uncle. It used to be his daily driver but doesn’t run now. Due to some unforseen circumstances they need to sell this although he didn’t want to. Please feel free to call him with questions or to come look at it and make an offer. This would make a great rebuilder or project Jeep for someone!”
The jeep looks very original and in reasonably good condition. I suspect the price will drop slightly.
“The jeep runs great, garage kept, real good condition.65,605 original miles on the original enguine. The pictures will tell a little more about the jeep.Buyer responsable for taxes title transfer, transporting jeep.”
Though this is a VEC columnshift CJ-2A, it doesn’t have the side indents, though they may have been replaced with a sheet metal patch. It does have a rare, wooden interior you won’t find on most jeeps… lol
“LOOK! 1946 Willys Jeep cj2a. This is a low serial number vehicle, a Very Early Cilvilian model with the rare column shift. The body has the indents for the ax and shovel. It has a home made wooden cab and has been changed to 12 volts with a GM Delco alternator. I am using a remote 2 gallon gas tank mounted behind the cab. …..This is a good base for a great early model Jeep. I am only selling as I have 3 other Willys and other projects that I need to concentrate on. Don’t miss out on this. Vehicle is sold as is/where is. Buyer is responsible for moving vehicle. I can asist in loading vehicle. Buyer can leave vehicle on my property for up to 30 days after full payment is received. Happy bidding and call or e mail with questions. 434/736-0789 Cell 434/579-1874”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
“1949 Jeep with trailer. Original body and frame. Fresh GM V6 engine with crane cam, edel brock manifold and 600 CFM carb., AX-15 five speed trans. with OD. New radiator and power steering. New tires and wheels (6). Small crack in finish in middle of hood. Runs great, always a hit in parades and shows. Successful bidder may drive. Guaranteed no disappointments. Located in Anderson, SC.”
Here’s what appears to be a good price on a running, low mileage CJ-5 with a plow. I’m not sure how it got so much rust if it was garaged for 44 years.
“1963 Willy’s Jeep with plow, 29,540 miles, Garaged for 44 Years! Complete and Original Engine
Convertible Top and Doors, Body sturdy (good amount of rust), Engine Runs Terrific! Still plowing snow (original plow) and tugging out trees! Happy to provide more information”
From what the pics show, this is a great price on what looks like a cj-2a in very good shape. Hop on this deal before it’s gone.
“1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. Recent paint, Buick V6, original drivetrain. Has Best Top with doors (doors not pictured). Upgraded interior heater. 8000lbs Warn winch with remote. Electric wipers. Tow bar.”
“WE USED THE JEEP ON OUR RANCH FOR YEARS ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO WE BACKED IT UP UNDER A MESQUITE TREE AND PARKED IT, DUE TO THE FACT WE GOT A NEWER JEEP TO USE. THE JEEP DOES HAVE SOME RUST BUT NOT TO BAD FOR THE AGE OF IT AND I HAVE LOOKED AT SOME THAT WERE THIS AGE AND WERE A WHOLE LOT WORSE. ORIGINAL FLAT HEAD MOTOR, WAS REBUILT, YEARS AGO. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL SEATS IN IT TO, DRIVERS SEAT NEEDS TO BE PUT BACK ON. I HAVE TAKEN SEVERAL PICTURES OF IT, I HOPE THEY WILL HELP YOU OUT….”
UPDATE: Seller has posted the jeep on eBay with many pics.
The seller would like to get at least $1700, but the reserve is $1300. Based on the pics, this is definitely an MB that has been modified to look CJ-2Aish (grill modified and tailgate added).
“The jeep runs and drives. It has newer front and rear seats. The data plates are missing, on the glovebox. It also has a 6 point roll bar, and later model rims and tires. It has a unique one of a kind front grill. I have a tow bar that comes with it. Great for restoration or custom mod rock crawler. Oregon title in hand. Need to sell due to job loss.”
UPDATE: With the help of eWillys, Bill sold his jeep. I’ll keep this for historical purposes.
Bill contacted me about selling this jeep he and his grandson have worked on for a few years. I suspect this good looking jeep was simply a bonus to that special time they enjoyed together.
Bill writes, “I have a 1948 Jeep cj2a that I bought in Black Mountain, NC. That was 4 years ago. I have done as much as I can to it. It runs great and we had fun working on it. My grandson Josh and I hung out together for quite a long time and that was fun. ”
Jim found this super cool truck. You could probably even get some long ramps and park your jeep on top of it — if you are brave.
“1949 Willys Jeep in middle of restoration. Chassis has been sandblasted primed and painted, tub body has been sandblasted and primed. has all new brakes and lines, new clutch, motor mounts, fuel pump rebuilt, engine has been painted, new fluid in axles. Only selling because loss of interest. Can be seen any weeknight after 6pm and on the weekends. Will deliver locally for a small fee.”
The body doesn’t look like a VEC CJ-2A body.
“i have a 45 willys 327 chevy v8 muncie 4 speed 4×4 34 in tires and it works good nice jeep good top and costom int call mike 4 more at 603-217-0143 5000 obo i have a lot into it thanks more than 5000 just need the cash make an offer”
At least it runs. It might be a mish-mash of parts or simply the wrong title, which explains the ’61 date also.
“1961 Willys Jeep. Jeep runs but has slight knocking. Bought as a rebuild project six months ago but never got the time.. Stout machine.”
It kind of looks like a leopard paint job.
“up for sale is a 1945 willys MB , it does start good, it has title. it does have lots of rust on the tub. but can be restored easily, for additional detials and pictures email me or call me on 2242171823.”
“1957 Willy Jeep CJ5, F Head Engine, With working Snow plow and Frame, Add-On Custom Cab model number 535 made by Koenig Iron Works, Houston Texas, Runs and drives. New parts included for brakes for all four wheels including master cylinder. Need to be installed. Tons of spare parts, and available parts vehicle not included but open for negotiation. 1500.00 or Best Offer

It needs an engine.
“Good title! All there except motor. I have a Buick V6 that I would sell separately if interested.”
“For auction is this 1945 Willys MB, it runs and drives great. I acquired this jeep about 2 years ago from a gentleman in town who had it for years. I thought at the time I would do a thorough restoration, but unfortunately I have alot on my plate and no time to invest in this task. Overall this jeep is in wonderful condition, engine is extremely strong as well as drive train, there are no rust issues to speak of, body is in super good shape, tires are basically new, seat cushions are new, also equipped with a PTO driven winch in working condition. To put it simply if you’re looking for a good, solid, very clean MB here you go. It’s not a text book restoration by any means however it represents itself extremely well and if so inclined you could finish to whatever degree.”
I can’t tell much from the pics.
“Licensed & Road Worthy, Driven Only 9,628 Miles Since Engine Was Rebuilt, New Battery / Rebuilt Generator / New Voltage Regulator / Recently New Tires, $700.00 In Work Reciepts, Needs Very Little Body Work, Gas Gauge Non – Functional, Needs Small Weld On Hood Hinge, Custom Roof, Can Be Removed / Dad Made The Roof, Missing Passenger Seat / Newly Upholstered Driver’s Seat, My Father Owned & Maintained This Jeep In The Family Since I was A Young Boy, Totally Road Ready”
“This is a 1952 Willys Jeep Cj3a. It has the stock 4cyl engine, 3spd trans, dana 44 rear with 11” brakes. The jeep is mostly stock and very clean. This is the good one you are looking for.”
UPDATE: Priced dropped to $700
“1945 WWII Willys MB in need of complete restoration. Most of the major items are there except for the seats, windshield frame and glass.
