“It was a barn find and I am in way over my head and do not have the time or space for this project. Supposedly it ran and was driven to where it was parked in a shop and sat there since 2004. The engine does turn over but I do not want to actually try and start it with out flushing the tank and lines. I don’t know much about it except for it’s rare and it’s a Jeep. No major rust. Floors are still intact. It’s needs lots of love but is very solid. I just do not have time for it.

Offers are being entertained until Saturday the 15th. Current bids are up to $7,000. No low ballers or tire kickers. Serious buyers only.

4 cylinder engine
Looks like a newer transfer case”

1942 MB Los Gatos, CA $15,000

Fr. Thomas Archer is selling this Willys MB. He plans to send all proceeds to the Church of the Immaculata in St. Mary’s Kansas. See details here:

1942-mb-losgatos-ca1 1942-mb-losgatos-ca4 1942-mb-losgatos-ca3 1942-mb-losgatos-ca2

“Built in August of 1942 this is an early war Jeep that saw it all, rolling off the assembly line the week we invaded Guadalcanal and months before we landed in North Africa.

I am going to say it needs total restoration as I don’t want to nit pick with a bunch of tire kickers – though others would call it parade ready. It is a good solid Jeep that has minimal rust with solid metal in the floor (one spot under passenger seat. Some rust in hat channels and tool indents though the gas tank well is solid.

Engine looks like it has a civilian Willys head on a pre-war Go-Devil engine.

I put 5 new tires and tubes on it recently. I also added the top bows and while all the hardware is great, I am not happy with the quality of the bows. Still, they come with the Jeep. I also put the original WW2 front hubs back on it and got rid of the postwar lock-out hubs you see in some of the pictures. I have the front seat back pad I just took it off temporarily to accommodate my “front pad” if you know what I mean. Also, replaced windshield rubber and added wipers recently.

Pictures in the ad go from more to less recent. It does have a heavy front bumper with a tow bar that comes with it. Bumper gussets are present and intact though one has a crack. Front serial number plate is still present on the front frame member. It runs, drives and stops fine and 4WD and Hi-Lo work as they should. As I said this is a solid restoration candidate and a way to help a worthy cause at the same time.

I am aware that the price may be considered relatively high-ish but I am not overly interested in selling it other than as a means to help a charitable cause”

Currently has antique tags and is road legal but needs lots of work as none of the lights are yet hooked up. Has fresh head gasket and got head shaved. 4×4. The seller believes the body is a 3A, but it looks to be a 2A body.

Motor did run when it was parked many years ago, but also have other motors and extra trannys, axles, and drive shafts, lights, buttons, seats, fenders… you name it I have it. No Updates Monday

Remember that time I wrote that I hoped regular updates would resume on Monday? Well, life threw us a curve. I visited my mother for Mother’s Day and learned she is struggling much more than I realized. So, we will probably be moving her sooner rather than later.

I brought back a few items from her place, like some desert dog tires for the race Jeep and some tools, but had hoped to bring back the DJ-3A aka Patterson (with Steve Carter’s offer to trailer it to Prosser). However, my mother’s garage door was broken and  Patterson wouldn’t start (fuel pump not working), so I told Steve we’d do it some other time. I never got the fuel pump working, but I did get the garage door working again. I will swap in my electric fuel pump for the time being.

1943 “Mountain Rescue Issue Title Is On The Spot” Video

• CATEGORIES: Features, videos

Interesting video of the RAF mountain rescue team and their use of a jeep, ambulance and climbing skills to investigate crash sites in the hopes of saving pilots and crew.

“Various shots of RAF (Royal Air Force) Mountain Rescue Service at work. Their job is to rescue RAF pilots that have crashed in hills / mountains. The search party consists of ambulance, jeep and team of mountaineers. An aeroplane flies over head to locate crash site. Good shot of team walking along ridge silhouetted against sky. We see the mountaineers climbing rock faces. The crash victim is strapped to a stretcher for descent. The mountaineers keep in contact with the ambulance and aeroplane using walkie talkies.

This is the crew of RAF Llandwrog training in the Snowdonia Mountains.”

“Up for sale is my 1964 Kaiser Willys CJ5 tuxedo park. It’s my 4th ground up restoration. I’ll start with what I didn’t do which was changed the gears in the axles as they looked great. And also I did not paint it as you could see. It’s original color was red. I did replace every race and bearing as well as front and rear hubs. All new 10” brake system (tuxedo park) front to back including cylinders and lines. All new fuel system front to back.

Completely rebuilt original Hurricane 4cyl engine. Show quality original rebuilt carburetor. Professionally rebuilt transmission and transfer case. All new u-joints. Right now it has a dealer sold dually farm kit on the back which is easily removed. There are seven brand new wheels and tires. Interior is all new and includes a new “Vintage Air”heater and defrost system.

Glass is new and it comes to the brand new best top super top. Frame is an excellent shape as I replace the original. Also there’s a brand new wiring kit from Walks 4wd along with an electronic distributor. I’m sure I missed a lot of items that I added to this so any questions feel free to contact me.

Oh, Also for this price will be extra parts such as the Tuxedo Park three on the tree transmission and shifter as well as the original transfer case plus many other parts. Just in case you’d like to restore it back to a tuxedo park. Approximately 150 miles on rebuilt engine.”
