UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500

“This is a fun, mechanically solid trail jeep. It has been on almost every trail in Washington and every sand dune in Oregon, so it has some issues. I have alway driving this Jeep hard but not to the breaking point. After every trip this Jeep got a good cleaning, fluids checked then got it ready for the next trip before putting it away. It drives pretty good on the street, but with the rear spool and no turnsignals and no full top, it is not a daily driver.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Nitrous included!

“What we have here is a 1958 Hillman Husky body mounted on a Jeep CJ5 chassis.  It has won awards at The Street Rod Nationals, Lead East, and The Adirondack Nationals.  It has been featured on “My Classic Car” with Dennis Gage on Speed Channel this past fall.  It is powered by a 231  CI  Buick “odd-Fire” V6.  It is equipped with headers, MSD Ignition, aluminum radiator, and electric fan.  It has a serious cam in it, and has been built to handle 150HP Nitrous shots.  No engine bay modifications where made…it was engineered to fit, and looks like it could have been factory.  It has a 3 speed manual transmission from the CJ.  With manual locking front hubs, the 4 wheel drive is functional.  A few other chassis features are, Dana 44 ‘s  differentials (rear has locker),  Rancho Suspension,  front disc brakes, rear drums, master cylinder and power booster mounted on the frame rail.  Everything under the car is painted and detailed.  Body was painted while completely apart with base coat/clear coat solid orange and white.  The interior is from the Hillman, and was custom stitched in black roll and pleat with orange piping and seatbelts.  All interior panels, carpets, headliner, dash, was all done as well.  It has a start button, directional lever on the dash in front of the tilt steering column, and am/fm/cd with remote.  The glass, seals, tail lights, and door rubber was all replaced.  Speedo does not work.  Everything else does.”

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $5000.

(11/18/2010) This looks like a real good price for a solid restoration.  This might be a good buy.

“The jeep was brought home on a trailer completely taken apart / frame off was completed. Began project around 2001. I cut out all rotted k bracing and sheet metal in the floor, replaced it with new material and mig welded into place. Spot welds reflecting areas of repairs. Jeep has always been in a garage or under a shed out of the weather since I completed it around 2003.Where good salvage parts were available I used these when replacing other older or worn parts. What is M38 tubb, frame, running gears, right fender, hood and grill, m50 antenna mount. Deep water fording kit is nos. I purchased it in the original crate. Top bows are aftermarket and maybe the rear tire mounting bracket. Most of the other parts are good salvage replacement or nos where and when I could find them. At time of original rebuild all brake lines were replaced and master cylinder was honed and rebuilt. I made a home made wiring harness as I was not sure if I would make it a 24 volt system or not and wanted to get it rolling. All fuel lines were replaced as well. It was undercoated with a coating called tool dip which is a black mastic type of undercoating and is military surplus. Fuel tank has been permanently sealed in military aircraft fuel tank sealer, also a mil surplus item. All seals were replaced and where needed suspension parts were replaced with new when original rebuild. Seat cushions were purchased new from Beachwood canvas, includes 3 lowers and the upper rear. Front uppers are original spring type for that original fell and sound. Front canvas seat covers sewn by my grandmother. No covers for rear. Windshield frame and left fender are cj3b. I began installing the rifle rack mounting but it needs to be completed. The brake shoes and brake cylinders replaced only a couple years ago and the drums turned. The brakes will stop stand and hold vehicle in place. Comes equipped with Slectro brand locking front lock in lock out hubs Engine was pulled from a 1952 cj3b. I cannot remember mileage. It is a non smoker. I purchased the jeep locally. Before pulling engine from jeep I removed oil pan and cleaned sludge from oil pan installed new gasket and replaced. Had to remove thermostat as old one was sticking. The engine has operated great since and has never let me down. It has received regular oil changes The most Recent new parts include new NAPA Battery and sporting a new paint job Army Jeep Parts WW 2 semi gloss Korean era Inoperative are wipers , horn wired but not working, fuel gauge wire not reading right, speedometer in tact but no speedometer cable. No Turn signals or wire for them but have military turn signal switch mounted on steering column …..”

1951 M-38 Holbrook, Ny eBay

• CATEGORIES: M-38 • TAGS: .

Here’s a ‘professionally’ restored M-38 that doesn’t appear accurately restored.  You can see it is missing the M-38 grille and grill mount, suggesting this is a CJ frame. It doesn’t have a M-38 gas tank and the inlet is in an odd position.  The windshield vent should be bolted, not hinged. The rear of the frame looks civilian;  Here’s the way the rear should really look. Note the drain piece where the hood connects to the body — that is from a CJ-3A.  And, last but not least, the Dash Plate is installed upside down and backwards …

1960 FC-150 Concord, Ca **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 • TAGS: .

UPDATE: Was $990. **SOLD**

(02/20/2010) Here’s an FC Project. Check out the list of recent work done on the craigslist ad.  Lots of good pics at the link below.

“I bought this FC 150 last year with the best intention of restoring it. It reminded me of my old 404 Mercedes Unimog. I still really like it, but I don’t have enough time to restore it. I also own a 1974 Jeep J-4800 gladiator pickup and I can’t justify owning two pickups. The cab lower parts and pickup bed floor has rust and needs body work. It does run and drive fine though. The transfer case and transmission works well in all ranges. It has Warn locking front hubs which I just cleaned and greased. I removed the fuel tank, flushed and treated the interior with a rust converter. Registration is current and the CA title is clear in my name. No DMV hassles and is smog exempt…. Problems include the rust I mentioned above, a broken speedo, cracks in the door window glass. Windshield is not cracked however. Engine kind of sounds like a diesel, but has good oil pressure. I have never owned a 4 cyl jeep before so it could be normal. Exhaust needs replacing. Fuel pump was replaced with a solid state electric one by the previous owner. It works fine. The mechanical fuel pump is still in place, but I never tested to see if it works. Tires are old and should be replaced. The seats are probably not original because they don’t fit right.

1950 4×4 Wagon Clear Lake, Tx **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Wagons • TAGS: .

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $7000.

(12/15/09) While approximately 90% stock, the seller gives a detailed review of what’s not original about this Wagon.

“It is a 4X4-63 model which was manufactured from January 1950 until March of 1950. It has a conventional ladder-type frame, and features independent front suspension utilizing control arms and a single traverse leaf spring. A three-speed Warner Model TY-96 transmission is used with synchromesh on the top two gears, and a Borg Warner overdrive. It is powered by a 4 cylinder L-head cast iron block and cylinder head engine producing 60 horsepower at 4000 rpm. It is a true 4×4 and has a Spicer fully floating front axle and a semi-floating Spicer rear axle and a Spicer Model 18 transfer case with a 2.42:1 low and 1.0:1 high range and locking front hubs. The shift lever is floor mounted. Front and rear suspension is semi elliptical leaf springs. This was a Texas Hill Country car and has zero rust on the body, frame or floor boards. The only rust is in the hinge area of the tail gate and to be show quality it would need to be repaired, however the tail gate is fully functional and opens and closes very easily:

Ninety percent of the vehicle is bone stock, however the previous owner made the following modifications several years ago.
•Added wood panels to exterior and interior of vehicle to create a “tin woody”. Exterior panels have aged and need to be replaced or recoated. Interior panels are in nice condition. The exterior panels are easily removable (just a few screws) and the body could also be painted to look like a woody as well.
•To establish clean woody exterior, the gas filler tube was relocated to interior of back compartment.
•Original flat front grill replaced with a 1954 V-Grill with cross bars.
•Seats were removed and modern bucket front seats were installed. Original style seats are easily available.
•Vacuum windshield wipers replaced with new electric wipers.
•Electric horn installed.
•Emergency brake installed
•Car converted from 6 volt to 12 volt and three new 12 volt gauges added under dash. (Original gauges are still in place however they operate off 6 volts so they have been disconnected.)
•Engine completely rebuilt. Installed new main bearings, polished crankshaft and replaced seals.
•New starter installed
•Custom made exhaust and new muffler.
•Transfer case seals replaced.”

1946 VEC CJ-2A Vista, Ca **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, Features, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles • TAGS: , .

UPDATE:  This seller also restored this CJ-2A with a similar theme.

A well executed and creative build.  These are exactly the kinds of non traditional restorations I’d like to see more of that properly record the wide and varied deployment of the jeep.

The builder/seller writes, “1946 Willys V.E.C. CJ2A #14, 422 – County Sheriff  Patrol Jeep: I’m relisting this beautiful Willys with a lower reserve. However, don’t make the mistake of believing that I’m giving it away!  I just recognize that the market is soft right now.  I know what I have put into this restoration.  This is my fourth and final restoration of a 1946 Willys Civilian Jeep (CJ) 2A.

I became interested in the 1946 CJ-2A because it was the first production 4 wheel drive vehicle available to the public and is the grandfather of all modern SUVs.  This particular CJ-2A restored as a Sheriff Patrol Jeep was restored as a tribute to my own Grandfather who was a deputy sheriff in Southern California during the 1940’s and early 1950’s.  This CJ-2A is a faithful restoration of the type patrol vehicle that may have been used by the sheriff in the California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona back-country. The Federal siren and all Unity lights are period vintage police equipment.  The STOP light on the left front fender is a vintage Griffin model used by Military Police on jeeps during the Second World War.
