1950 4×4 Wagon Clear Lake, Tx **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Wagons • TAGS: .

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $7000.

(12/15/09) While approximately 90% stock, the seller gives a detailed review of what’s not original about this Wagon.

“It is a 4X4-63 model which was manufactured from January 1950 until March of 1950. It has a conventional ladder-type frame, and features independent front suspension utilizing control arms and a single traverse leaf spring. A three-speed Warner Model TY-96 transmission is used with synchromesh on the top two gears, and a Borg Warner overdrive. It is powered by a 4 cylinder L-head cast iron block and cylinder head engine producing 60 horsepower at 4000 rpm. It is a true 4×4 and has a Spicer fully floating front axle and a semi-floating Spicer rear axle and a Spicer Model 18 transfer case with a 2.42:1 low and 1.0:1 high range and locking front hubs. The shift lever is floor mounted. Front and rear suspension is semi elliptical leaf springs. This was a Texas Hill Country car and has zero rust on the body, frame or floor boards. The only rust is in the hinge area of the tail gate and to be show quality it would need to be repaired, however the tail gate is fully functional and opens and closes very easily:

Ninety percent of the vehicle is bone stock, however the previous owner made the following modifications several years ago.
•Added wood panels to exterior and interior of vehicle to create a “tin woody”. Exterior panels have aged and need to be replaced or recoated. Interior panels are in nice condition. The exterior panels are easily removable (just a few screws) and the body could also be painted to look like a woody as well.
•To establish clean woody exterior, the gas filler tube was relocated to interior of back compartment.
•Original flat front grill replaced with a 1954 V-Grill with cross bars.
•Seats were removed and modern bucket front seats were installed. Original style seats are easily available.
•Vacuum windshield wipers replaced with new electric wipers.
•Electric horn installed.
•Emergency brake installed
•Car converted from 6 volt to 12 volt and three new 12 volt gauges added under dash. (Original gauges are still in place however they operate off 6 volts so they have been disconnected.)
•Engine completely rebuilt. Installed new main bearings, polished crankshaft and replaced seals.
•New starter installed
•Custom made exhaust and new muffler.
•Transfer case seals replaced.”

Year? CJ-2A Chico, Ca $2000

UPDATE:  Something strange is going on .. this jeep is listed below for $2000 in Chico.  On eBay it is listed for a single bid of $5500.

This looks a good price on a CJ-2A.  This is listed as a ’43, but I see nothing to indicate that this is anything other than a CJ-2A.

“Turn key ready to go. Overdrive works great. Transfer case smooth and easy. Converted 12 volt system. Immaculate seats and back seats. L4-134 purrs like a kitten.
*Less than 7500 miles on rebuilt original L4-134 (four cylinder) engine  *A rebuilt carburetor  *All steering components are either new or rebuilt  *New speedometer and cable  *A new radiator  *A new master cylinder  *New windshield and rubber  *original four speed transmission and overdrive  *Two speed heater  *New floor pans  *Canvas soft top  *Upholstery and tires in good condition  * AM radio, C.B. ready  *Tow bar and trailer hitch  *Epuipped for hunting with rear mounted deer deck  *Interior lights, lights under hood and back up lights  *Gas, amp and water temperature gauges  *Two locking tool boxes mounted inside the jeep  *Two five gallon powder coated gas cans mounted on the rear with locks  *The jeep comes with more that $500.00 worth of spare miscellaneous parts  *11″ brakes not installed, but still in the box  *PTO  *The jeep is in excellent condition and has been hightly maintained and serviced on a regular basis.  Only addition I put on are knew front hubs. 1946 VEC CJ-2A Vista, Ca **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, Features, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles • TAGS: , .

UPDATE:  This seller also restored this CJ-2A with a similar theme.

A well executed and creative build.  These are exactly the kinds of non traditional restorations I’d like to see more of that properly record the wide and varied deployment of the jeep.

The builder/seller writes, “1946 Willys V.E.C. CJ2A #14, 422 – County Sheriff  Patrol Jeep: I’m relisting this beautiful Willys with a lower reserve. However, don’t make the mistake of believing that I’m giving it away!  I just recognize that the market is soft right now.  I know what I have put into this restoration.  This is my fourth and final restoration of a 1946 Willys Civilian Jeep (CJ) 2A.

I became interested in the 1946 CJ-2A because it was the first production 4 wheel drive vehicle available to the public and is the grandfather of all modern SUVs.  This particular CJ-2A restored as a Sheriff Patrol Jeep was restored as a tribute to my own Grandfather who was a deputy sheriff in Southern California during the 1940’s and early 1950’s.  This CJ-2A is a faithful restoration of the type patrol vehicle that may have been used by the sheriff in the California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona back-country. The Federal siren and all Unity lights are period vintage police equipment.  The STOP light on the left front fender is a vintage Griffin model used by Military Police on jeeps during the Second World War.
