Newgren and Stockland Brochures for the Terracing Blade

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features

To me, it looks like the Newgren terracing blade became the ‘Jeep’ terracing blade (with a minor modification .. angled piece added to the top for strength), which then became the Stockland terracing blade. Thoughts?

The Huffman Hub Company of Albuquerque, NM

UPDATE III: In September of 1964 the Huffman Hub company posted this full-page ad in Four Wheeler Magazine —

September 1964 Four Wheeler Magazine

(UPDATE II: Finally got a look at the 1967 article about Floyd Huffman that appeared in the August 20, 1967, issue of the Albuquerque Journal (pg 28):

UPDATE: Dan shared pics of a set he just bought from Paul:

Post originally Published April 8, 2017:

In December of 1958, Floyd G. Huffman filed a patent for a new type of hub structure. His patent, designed to “provide a hub structure that can be simply and quickly manually operated to release the front wheels so that they will rotate freely on the axles without the necessity of having the gears etc. rotate simultaneously when the front wheel drive has been disengaged” was finally approved in April of 1961.

1970’s Photo CJ-3A in Uruguay Pulling Trailer Ad

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images

Hugo shared a French documentary about Uruguay that includes a CJ-3A. Below is a still from the video (full video here). The jeep only makes a couple second appearance.

“At the 3:20 mark, this video shows our central and most important avenue. The date of the video is 18 de Julio (18th July), the day our first constitution was approved. The location along the avenue is still possible to recognize by the architecture. Obviouslly everything else changed.

The Willys is pulling an advertisement for the Lottery of the 6th January day of the Three Kings. It is an important hollyday in Uruguay. Today it is comparable to Christmas, regarding the weight of gifts for children.”

On a side note, while doing some brief research for this, I learned that Uruguay has the longest carnival season in the world, as it runs 40 days each year!

This ad for Marine versions of the L-134 engine appeared in the October 06, 1947, issue of The Key West Citizen newspaper. As the ad notes, these are the “J1” models, which I take to mean that the serial numbers might start with “J1”?

1949 CJ-3A Idaho Falls, ID **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.

Seems worth a look. Has drivetrain updates.

“1949 Willys Jeep CJ3A. Has the “Dauntless” V6. Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Dana 18 transfer case. Saginaw steering. Front disc brakes. Lots of new parts. $3,000 with new tires and older rims. $2,500 with older original style wheels and tires. Runs well and drives but definitely needs more restoration but that’s part of the fun with these old Willys jeeps. Make offer or if you have something of equal value maybe we can trade.

This Jeep was never titled but the price reflects that. I did a title search in Oregon where it was purchased and came up with nothing. There are ways to license and register it and it really isn’t a big deal but just know there is that issue. Added: The Transmission shifts rough and leaks and may need a rebuild.. Probably needs a new radiator. I took the gas tank off and did a coating on the inside which came out very nice. Put in a new gas tank gauge sending unit. New distributor cap and points. New coolant hoses. Runs well but I have a carburator rebuild kit for it. Changed the oil. Changed the tranny fluid. Did a flush of the coolant system.”

It includes a compressor fitted onto the passenger side.

“Willies overland, has a Wisconsin v4 retrofitted to an air compresser factories fited to the jeep for the navy. Not sure of the year of manufacture. Not sure how much it is worth but very collectible . Computer would not let me post with out a price. body #10183 I Think.”

This has a Bobcat hood and a custom 2A windshield with extra glass. No engine or trans.

“1942 Willys MB Jeep Clean WA title! No engine or trans just a roller. I have soft doors and bikini top for it too. None of the sins you see are mine, so if you have comments, keep me laughing. This one sat on the backburner too long and is ready for a new home. You could do almost anything with it, maybe your Mahindra Roxor would be more fun with a new front clip and licence plates? Cheap trail rig? LS swap? Slammed with an SR20det? Crazy 70’s street freak gasser? Anything, well except keep the cage, it’s terrifying. Cash talks, I will respond to folks in order.”

Roy Rogers, Post Cereals, & the Win-A-Jeep Family Contest

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features

Roy Rogers and Post Cereals had a licensing agreement for an unknown period of time, but it at least covered the period between 1952-1955 (I’m sure the Roy Rogers & Dale Evans archives can better answer the time period question). Together, the entertainer and cereal manufacturer produced a series of TV spots, print ads, and merchandise.

Here’s an example of a Post Cereal Commercial with Roy Rogers, Pat Brady and a hint of Nelly Belle (see many more commercials here):

In 1952 and 1953, Roy Rogers teamed up with Post Cereals to produce a series of 36 pop-out cards about Roy’s epic adventures. View references to the names for the entire list of cards here.

Card #4 “Pat Brady and Hi Jeep, “Nelly Bell”. Of course, the front is actually the same size as the back. See better images here.

Post Cereals also released a series of 3D cards with Roy Rogers, a few that included jeeps, that required the use of 3D glasses. Here are two examples that include jeeps (there are some of these 3D items for sale on eBay).

And one more off of eBay:

In 1953 Post Cereals joined Roy for a series of pins, one of which included NellyBelle on it.
