Hugo shared a link to a brief history of IKA, the licensed builder of jeeps in Argentina. Hugo noted that the last vehicle shown, the Torino, was a popular car that was based on the American Rambler, but was powered by a Tornado engine.

Bill shared this news. FCA held a sketch competition to solicit independent designs for electric jeeps. Three winners were selected. The first was a futuristic FC design; the second a buggy design; and the third an extreme buggy design.

UPDATE: Long story short, I bought the bottom two jeep lighters. The first winner of the auction didn’t pay, so when I saw them re-acutioned, I made sure to snag them.
This first one is the jeep lighter/ash tray combo and initially sold for $113.50 (plus $12.70 shipping), but the buyer backed out. My purchase price was a little less:
The FB ad indicates a dealer is selling this. No description provided.

I’m asking $8,500 obo and will answer any questions I can. Located in southern Missouri with a clean title.”

“This particular Champ starts, runs and drives extremely well with the working four forward and reverse gears which is pretty fun to drive. Another cool thing which makes it nice is the full syncromesh transmission unlike the Jeep counterparts. This would make a great parade or cottage vehicle
The Austin Champ was a Military and Civilian Jeep like vehicle made in the 1950’s. The Military versions were known by Truck, ¼ ton, CT, 4×4, Cargo, FFW and Mk1. After about 30 prototypes were built they decided on what you see here. Most of these vehicles went to the British Military hence the FFW stands for Fitted For Wireless or Remote radio communications.
These were also quite unique because of the indestructible Rolls Royce 4-Cylinder engines that were made for these. Another unique feature is the fact that these engines were basically water-proof. This technology also proved to be extremely expensive too complex and limited to just cross country travel which it was extremely capable of. In-fact, it cost way more than the Land Rovers that were being built for the same thing..”

“This CJ became more of a project than I planned. The jeep is complete, I do have the original seat frames with steel pans. The motor is stuck. I pulled the head and am soaking the cylinders with mystery oil. SO OBVIOUSLY IT DOES NOT RUN! I have new 19 guage floor panels to weld in and a brand new 12 volt battery. Was going to convert it to 12 v. The tires all have decent tread and hold air as they should. It rolls very easily to move around and load onto a trailer. These are getting as rare as hen’s teeth! If it doesn’t sell, I’ll get it running, get it roadworthy and keep it. $1,500.”
Doesn’t run, but has potential.

“Very little rust. Does not run Plans changed with this beauty could make a great street rod or rat rod.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $13,050.
(09/29/2019) Could be worth a look.
“74 year old vehicle in great condition for it’s age has minor dings here and there but no major dents or damage to body or frame. Rust free. Needs a little TLC and can be a great winter project. Starts every time, but can be a little touchy with a one barrel carburetor. Numbers matching engine, original dash information tags included. Mostly original except basic maintenance items. Also unsure about the paint being original. Unlikely, unless the paint is very faded because research suggests the factory blue would’ve been much darker. New battery in 2019, whole fuel system replaced, fuel filter, fuel tank all done by Hubbell’s Auto Repair in Marion, IA.
Had professional welder check over undercarriage and did frame brace welding work. Factory storage bin under passenger seat was professionally refabricated and welded by same welder and he did a great job. Factory bikini top included. Originally 6V converted to 12V prior to second owner. 2 front seats, metal is original but cushion and upholstery replaced. Back seat all original. Tires and rims in good shape. Rims are to the period but probably not original.
**Please contact me with any questions. I am helping a friend sell this vehicle so it may take some time to answer your questions, please me patient and allow me time to get your question answered.**”
