Wow. While it looks like a Surrey, it’s definitely a 3A.
“make offer, willing to trade for newer truck.”

A November, 24, 1959 article in the Spokesman Review introduced the Surrey to Spokane, Washington, residents. There was no accompanying article. Behind the jeep is an old surrey carriage. I’ve not seen an original press photo of this one. Has anyone else?
Two months earlier a September 16, 1959, article in the Toledo Blade welcomed the ‘Jeep Surrey’ as well. Interesting that by 1959 the Jeep Galas were already serving multiple locations (Las Brisas, Hawaii and the Carribean).
Three months later in January of 1960 the Toledo Blade published this article.
This later photo was taken at the 1961 Chicago Auto Show. I found it via Google, but I couldn’t locate it on the chicagoautoshow’s website due to errors from the site.
It’s marked July 1961.
“Original Vintage Color Snapshot Photo Man w/ Pink circa 1960 Willys Jeep Surrey Gala dated 1961 Size is 3.5×5″ inches.”
UPDATE:**SOLD** Was $6000.
Craig shared this link. I saw this jeep in person in Butler last year. Very well built jeep from what I saw.

Needs a little work, but looks in good shape.
“Willys is missing surrey top canvas, but I have material and complete frame is attached. Restored in 1997 but has minor surface rust in various areas. Carbeurator on vehicle is not the original and linkage is not complete for rebuilt carb. I have original carb in box.Have not found the original oil bath air cleaner, but might still have it. Fuel filter bowl is not functional and is not connected. Might need distributor, is running rough. Less than 19000 original miles with good compression.Tires have less than 1000 miles on them.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $200.
Looks pretty original to me, but I haven’t seen many of these.
“Pedal Car; Hamilton, Princess Jeep, Canopy used needs restored”
UPDATE: Sold on eBay for $3.65.
Here’s a great vintage postcard on eBay.
“Pink Jeep at Waikiki. This auction is for a nice divided postcard showing A Pretty Girl and Pink Jeep, Honolulu, Hawaii – Wonderful 1960 dated card – Published by well known Mike Roberts #C7639”
UPDATE II: Charles spotted the 2010 post below that shows a DJ-3A auctioned on eBay from Massachusetts. Anyone recognize it or know the previous or current owner?
====================
UPDATE: Bill tells me they are also looking for pictures of any surviving examples of tops and the bows themselves. The bows are the most important item they need to duplicate. The top is something we can construct but without a correct set of bows we won’t be on the mark.
Bill and Charles are seeking the measurements for the DJ-3A Fastback Style Top like the one shown below. There’s currently a thread about it here http://z4.invisionfree.com/CJ3B_Bulletin_Board/index.php?showtopic=5356, but so far no one has had any luck finding them.
As I look at these two pictures, it appears to me that top folded up like a Jeepster top. I’ve never noticed that before. I’ve never run across one of these tops in the real world, only in brochures or press photos.
UPDATE: Was listed at $20,000
“Jeep is vitually mechanically perfect. Documentation for re-build on engine, new gaskets and seals through-out, new ring gear, rear main seal, starter, engine cluster, thermostat, side panels that were never installed and are like new, owners manual, shop manual. Older restoration that is in nice shape. Has original vacuum wiper and a hand wiper on the passenger side (as it was equipped originally). Has original size white-wall tires. this is a truly eye-catching vehicle.”
Derek’s updated the Pepsi DJ-3A Surrey Page with some neat information. It includes a photo of surreys on a transport trailer. http://cj3b.info/Siblings/SurreyPepsi.html
Here’s an example of one Pepsi Surrey:
UPDATE: This is back on eBay at a much lower price.
Burn Notice fans will interested in this Surrey. According to the eBay ad it was used on the set of Burn Notice, though no one has seen it appear in an episode (and only two episodes of the series left: sept 05 and sept 12 on the USA Network). We do know that the producer had been hunting a surrey for the show, but never learned what happened to their search. Well, I guess they found one.
UPDATE II (09/11/2013): Brian and Bruce each sent a photo. See below pink surrey photos.
UPDATE (09/10/2013): Brian shared these pics of a Surrey with a Kelly hardtop. He bought the hardtop, but not the jeep.See Brian’s pic and info underneath the pink surrey hardtop photos.
Unfortunately, there’s no description. Only the date of July 1965.

(09/11/2013) Brian sent this photo of the door after it was sand blasted.
(09/11/2013) Bruce forwarded this photo of the surrey without the top.
(09/10/2013) Brian’s photos of a 1961 DJ-3A Surrey:
Brian writes, “It’s not the same Jeep. My top has never had an i.d. tag on it which i always thought was odd. When i bought the top, the Jeep was only in Florida for a year or two at the time. Before that it was in Virginia where it had spent most of it’s life, the same State that the top was built in. The story was something like: a lady bought the Surrey new in ’61 and then (i think) it was sold to a serviceman around the time of Vietnam. He put the Jeep in storage and it sat there for well over 30 years, hence why it was in such good shape. I can’t remember who had the top put on it.
I found two more pics that show a bit of the pink paint, in the rear cargo area some is showing on the ribs and the front floor shot shows a line of pink around the body seam. I had underhood pics that showed alot of pink paint that the cheaper paint didn’t adhere too well to but i can’t find them.“
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1250
(08/09/2012) Here’s a rare project Surrey.
“1964 Jeep Surrey Gala(DJ3A) 2 wheel drive version of the CJ3. Unique model, not very many made. Has the 134CI flathead that runs pretty good. This model has the 3 speed stick shift on the column instead of the floor. This Jeep has already been soda blasted and is ready for restoration. Would be a good father/son project.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was auctioned.
Bruce noted this Surrey is still for sale. It will be up for auction some time in the next few days.
