“Up for sale is my 1953 Willys Cj3B Jeep. This jeep is a project and would make a nice project for someone over the winter. The jeep runs and drives but needs brake work and a tune up and some electrical stuff with the lights sorted out. It hasn’t ran in a few months, but I have no doubt it will start and I’ll be putting a battery in it tomorrow and starting it. The brakes stop the jeep but not well. The body is rough. It’s been patched over and re-patched in some places. It has fiberglass front fenders. New shocks on the front. I do have new led tail lights for it, an orginal heater, and an electronic ignition module for the distributer that will be included. The top needs a little welding work. Tires are dry rotted bad and leak. A set of steel rims are included as well. I have a clean title in my name. Asking $1800 for this classic… who needs a side by side when you can have this?! Work on it over the winter and have a fun jeep to cruise in when it’s spring time. Sold as is.”
UPDATE: Prices dropped.
Scott’s got these parts for sale on Facebook:
This has any unusual extension setup along with shorter rear barm doors. Maybe a Koenig hardtop?

“I am sad to be posting this but here it is. This is a one of a kind Hardtop Jeep Willys CJ3A. It has 18,500 original miles and the motor was rebuilt at 15,826 in 2016 ($3000 of work that I have the paperwork for).
Shocks were replaced at 15,665 miles. It is converted to 12volt. Its got brake lights and blinkers. 4×4 high and low work perfectly. The hardtop is custom fitted and fabricated, they didn’t make these with hardtops back then. This is a one of one Jeep Willys with an awesome patina, it could be sanded and panted easily but I would say don’t do it, keep that patina alive.

“64 Jeep all original 18k box A miles! Runs and drives”
Seller indicates this is a Keonig, but the back edge doesn’t appear correct for a Koenig (it is hard to see in the pics), so I can’t say for certain who made the top.

Also have a set of front fenders and hood that I am packaging in the deal.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500.
James has spent quite a bit of time going through the mechanicals on this former Forest Service CJ-5 (no gov plate to confirm this). He’s a got some good history on it and out has a rare Koenig 520 barn door hard top. The 520 model marks it as a “CJ-5 Jiffy Cab”, according to an August 1957 brochure. The “Vertical Rear Doors” were an option that fit all the Koenig full cab models (Super, Standard, and Jiffy models … more on Koenig hardtops here).
“1963 Kaiser Willys CJ5 Jeep Universal
Must come to Powell, TN for pick up.
$6500 cash only. CASH, nothing else. No trades either.
Clean Tennessee title in my name.
If you are out of state, I will work with you, but I will arrange nothing. You must do all the leg work.
Ok, that’s out of the way. I bought this CJ5 in August of this year. Since the 5th, I have put about 450 hours into it. That’s one benefit of working from home, haha. It is not a restoration. More of a project to make it safe and fun to drive without worrying about it being a trailer queen.

(10/19/2020) This nice looking CJ-6 is owned by the original owner. It has been repainted and there are a few minor mods. The rear bumper is something I don’t remember seeing on a jeep.

Looks like there is value here. This project includes another tub. This appears to have a unique hardtop, one I don’t think I’ve documented previously.

This photo and caption out of the February 11, 1946, issue of the Herald-Journal (Logan, Utah), shows the press photo that was for sale on eBay back in 2013.
==============================
Originally Published September 18, 2013: According to the attached information, these jeeps were winterized with left over Japanese transport plane materials.
This 1946 photo was also available in 2013. It too was taken at a Japanese airbase, but it’s unclear to me if it is the Showa airbase or not.
=========================
This press photo was taken in 1946 in Showa as well.
“This is an original press photo. Instead of manufacturing cargo planes for Japanese use, this assembly line is making US Jeeps fit for winter use. Japanese stocks of aluminum, plexiglass, rivets, iron rods and fabric are being fitted to jeep use. Photo measures 9.25 x 7 inches. Photo is dated 2-6-1946.”
