Lots of good updates to this CJ-2A, but a few issues, too.
“1946 willys jeep. The good: buick 231 oddfire v6 runs great, 3 speed manual trans, warn overdrive;, d44 rear axle with posi and i was told 5:32 gears, d35 front axle with posi and 5:32 gears, soft top (could use a little work above the doors the stitching came loose), full soft doors, cb radio, full cage, newer tires and wheel 95%, bucket seats with 3pt harnesses, fire extinguisher, tow bar, old electric winch not fast but it works good, tow hooks, fresh paint (a few small chips in the door opening from getting in and out), power steering, the body isnt perfect but it is in good shape for being 64 years old. Only a few very small rust holes in the floor.
The bad: Turn signals are not hooked up. Something is wrong in the drivetrain i think it is the overdrive something is either worn out or the linkage is out of adjustment everything seems to shift fine except the overdrive. the problem is it wont stay in gear it will randomly work and drive fine then pop out of gear and not move until it decides it wants to. it should be an easy fix but i dont have the time. if i fix it i will be raising the price. this thing is small it is the main reason i am getting rid of it i am 6’4″ and have no leg room i can barely drive it.
I am asking $4600 the way it is. possible trade for yj or tj wrangler must be 4.0 5 spd, 92+ f-250 or f-350 reg cab long bed 4×4 preferably with a 460, 93+ ranger 4×4 preferably extra cab and manual trans, or a 60s-early 70s muscle car like chevelle, mustang, charger, nova, cougar, etc. email or call 503-962-9559 if interested.”

“I just plain do not drive this very much. 3 times in the last 4 years. Some bad. From sitting it has started to leak a little by the tranny and transfer case. Blinkers are not working which I am sure has something to do with why the brake lights dont work. The new oil gauge (psi) Is not working. I think I bought it with a default. I have always kept this in the shop so the top is old and weathered if even all there. The price is set to sell quick so first come first serve. Other than that drive this anywhere. 503 396 1631.”

(11/27/09) The seller doesn ‘t mention it, but it looks like this was built on a later model frame judging by the rear suspension. I haven’t seen many ‘woody’ mbs.

“I am selling this 1949 Willys Overland Jeepster Convertible . It has a rebuilt 1964 Buick V6 and an Automatic Transmission. I have 2 sets of tires. True spoke western rims, and a matching trailer. Motor has approx. 5000 miles. I have had it in a few parades. Draws alot of attention if thats what your looking for. Runs and drives really smooth. Power steering, power brakes, have been added to this jeep. The rear end is a ford 9 inch. No oil leaks, or burning. It has a new radiator. I have removed the pin stripping in the pictures. Here’s another one courtesy of Jean-Sebastien. Bids have reached $9100. No offense to the seller, but I don’t quite understand why someone would modify a ’47 into a M-38 at such a detailed level as this has been done? But, hell, I’ve done plenty of things that didn’t make any sense!
“This is a Collectors 1947 Willys Jeep CJ2A modified to m38 with a military green paint job that is a year old. The seats were done year ago in green canvas. Jeep has a new go devil four cylinder motor that is green to match paint and was installed about year ago. Jeep runs great and has been garaged every winter. It comes with the one year old green canvas top. New unidirectional 7.00-16 Tires and green rims, Paint and Interior are in Great Condition. The Jeep looks nice enough, but let me remind potential buyers that 1. VE day was in May of 1945 and VJ day was in August of 1945; 2. 1948 comes after 1945 (umm .. this is self-evident, yes?); and 3., by the transitive mathematical property, this jeep, contrary to the seller’s claim, could not have played a role in WWII because it ended in 1945 and the jeep was produced in 1948.

This looks like a M-38 to me, rather than a CJ-3A as indicated by the seller. I wouldn’t mind seeing some more pics of this.

This M-606 includes a Navy ID Plate — very rare based on what I’ve seen. The dashboard arrangement isn’t something I’ve seen. Get it while it lasts.

It was available for $1700. It runs, it has on Overdrive, it is straight. This won’t last the weekend. It does have an L-head rather than an F-head though. Kudos to Brett for spotting this one! If I had a trailer, I would have left tonight to go get this myself. Oh, this one’s painful ….

This is a good looking CJ-3B with unusual striping.
“You are bidding on a beautiful original 1953 Willys Jeep CJ-3B. Black plate California jeep. This jeep runs very good with no oil consumption or leaks. The only rust is on the front fender where it meets the grill and the tailgat has a crack where the spare tire carrier used to be as seen in the pictures. It has a new clutch and pressure plate installed last year. The top is almost new with one small tear in the passenger door that happened when it was hauled to Arkansas from California in 2009. It also has a canopy top in good shape for those warm summer days. All 3 seats show some wear but have no rips or tears. The speedometer does not work the needle is broken off in the gauge. It has chrome rims and good street tires. The engine, transmission, twin stick transfer case and third members are all in good shape with easy shifting and no strange noises. New brakes were installed in 2009. The jeep comes with a tow bar for towing behind your motorhome. I have owned this jeep for over 10 years and bought it from a friend who used it on his horse ranch. (01/12/10) This CJ-2A has a few interesting features. One is the spare tire holder, which uses a strategy I’m considering for my build. Also, this jeep runs the treadwright retread tires.
“1949 CJ2A – Excellent (not perfect) condition. Has been redone from the ground up. A must see. Starts, runs, steers, brakes. Many features including a Warn overdrive, Tulsa Ramsey winch (electric), Saginaw steering, 12 volt electric system with alternator and modern lights. I have used it – it is not a garage decoration. Engine was torn down, did not need rebuilt/bored…and was filled with new parts. Transmission and Transfer case have been rebuilt. Has a dual master cylinder. Parking brake works.”

(10/06/09) I don’t anything to indicate this is a ’45 or a VEC. It appears the body is a replacement body. It appears in good shape.
