Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. There’s a good deal of junk here, but the opening bid is only $195, so maybe there’s some value. I can see there’s the column shift parts at the very least.
“You are bidding on a 1946 JEEP WILLYS. 4 cylinder, 4 wheel drive low. Column shift, transmission & under gear is all there. Full radiator assembily w/shrowd. Floating hubs for front, starter. Overall condition is restorable. Willys OJ2A 32336. Jeep does not have title….”

Here’s what appears to be a very restorable VEC CJ-2A. And it runs!
“Here is a 1945 Jeep Willy’s for sale. Its been off the road for about 12 years. Stock flat head engine. The oil’s been changed and a tune up has been performed. Carb rebuild, plugs, wires, points, condensor, interstate battery. It runs but “pops” back through the intake. It drives but needs brake work. Someone left the lid off of the master cylinder for quite some time. The rust is around as you can see in the pictures, some parts are very rusty but the chassis is sound. I was planning on fixing this for the ranch I live on but I just do not have the time. Clear tiitle. I will deliver it if I get the right price for it. Can be seen 9 to5 monday through friday and weekends by appointment”

Here’s a fine looking early ’46 CJ-2A with the driver side cutouts.
“Straight CJ2A willys jeep mostly all original. L-head (flat head) four cylinder, Custom Cool air intake with K&N air filter , Remote spin on oil filter, GM alternator, Converted to 12 volt, Engine has been recently gone through, replaced rings, main and rod bearings, cam chain and sprocket. Auto machine shop polished crank and miked it, (still within stock tolerance)

A reader named Jim forwarded this interesting CJ-2A. The body appears in very good shape. It sports a column shift and a PTO. It appears to have a CJ-3B windshield. With the 3 dash panels and the column shifting, I’d guess this (or part of it) is actually a mid 1946 rather than a 1948.

This restoration looks beautiful, though if this is really a ’45, then I think it should have the column shifter. It’s beautiful and I rather like the burnt (?) orange. The one element I don’t like is the ‘all wheel drive’ plaque on both sides of the hood. It’s also missing the rear soft-top bars holder on the driver side.
“The vehicle IS titled as a 1943 though the serial number on the vehicle matches the code for a 1945. The transmission is a 4 speed.”
Note the driver’s side cutouts. This is likely an early ’46.

I’m guessing the pictures don’t do this jeep justice? Only $850? I don’t see any duct tape or baling wire, so it must be worth at least a $1000? Definitely worth a look.
“This is a 1946 cj2a willys jeep. it runs, drives, and the brakes work. the body is in pretty rough shape. I would say that from the windshield back it is shot, but im also not a body guy. the motor runs good, smokes alot. the drivetrain is in great shape 4×4 high and low works. the frame looks very solid, i didnt notice any rusty sections. i dont want to try to fool anyone, this jeep needs some work. it is drivable as is but needs some tlc. i have too many projects and need to sell this one unfortunately. im asking 850 obo. “

“This Jeep is being relisted from about 3 weeks ago. Up for sale is a 1946 Willys Jeep that I bought from an an elderly gentleman’s estate sale in February. This is a very early CJ2a that originally came with a column shift. I have not had the time to devote to rebuilding it and now I must sell it to make room for other vehicles. I got this jeep running with a basic tune up. It has a Buick 231 V6, power steering conversion and add on turn signals. This jeep does need work. The front left frame horn appears to have a slight tweak downward on the left side.”
If you are looking for an early CJ-2A, this has got some good elements, including the driver’s side cutouts, the column shifter, and a heater. The passenger side fuel hole is interesting; I don’t believe that was stock?
“This early CJ-2A has an ID number of 16741. It is a 3 speed on the tree. It has a clear MO title. Below is the description: Motor – Org. 4 cylinder. Just got back from machine shop. All four cylinders were re-sleeved. Crank was polished. New pistons, valves, springs, etc Everything still in boxes as you can see by the pictures. Interior – I have no seats. Does have a roll bar. Floor is solid, except for the “bed”. It should be cut out and fitted with new metal. Exterior – The only rust I can see is the passage side step. Some of the Hat Channel underneath will need to be cut (maybe 3 feet) Tailgate is orginal, but is pretty rough. I have no windshield and I don’t believe the hood is org. because there is no Willys stamped on it.”
