This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1964 Willy’s Jeep FC170. Chassis is complete and fully restored. Cab is in bare metal. Have all sheet metal and interior parts to complete. No bed included but do know where one is for sale. $15,000 OBO. • 4 speed transmission • Warn locking hubs • Frame sand blasted, primed, and painted • Completely rebuilt 226 cu engine • Electronic distributor • New carb • New combination fuel pump / vacuum pump • New clutch, pressure plate, and fly wheel • New radiator and Stainless-Steel surge stank • New starter and alternator • Transmission and transfer case rebuilt with new seals and gaskets • Replaced universal joints in both front and rear drive shafts • Rebuilt both front and rear differentials, bearings, seals, etc. • New shock absorbers • Brake system, all new parts, including lines, drums, and emergency cables. • New poly fuel tank • 4 new BF Goodrich tires, 33 x 12.5 x T15lt • New rear bumper, lights, hitch, trailer connector. • New leaf spring mounts, shackles, bolts, springs.”

UPDATE: This rig was sold on eBay back in 2012 (at one point referred to as “Big Red”). It was relisted on eBay in 2018. The current seller bought it earlier this year. Now, it’s back on the market again, this time being auctioned on BaT (thanks Blaine!). The below pics are from the 2018 post.

“This Forward Control 170 is just about ready for final re-assembly. Her body is almost fully prepped for paint and the running gear needs a few more pieces. She’s rust free and just needs wrenching time. Located in Portland, OR she is part of collection of projects owned by a serious restorer of everything Willys.
The body is in fantastic shape with 90 %+ of the work completed. The undercarriage looks fabulous, and no rust can be detected. The cab is ultra-solid, one door needs to be reskinned and she is missing the windshield. Previous owner engineered a forward tilting cab using a hydraulic ram, allowing access to the running gear. Most every item is available to finish the exterior, from bumpers to emblems.

“This 1959 Willys Jeep FC-170 is a cab-over pickup that is finished in green over green plaid upholstery and is powered by a 226ci Super Hurricane inline-six mated with a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. It was acquired by the seller’s father in 2016 and is believed to have spent much of its life in Michigan and Ohio. Equipment includes LED running lights, steel wheels with manually-locking front hubs, a side-mounted spare, mud flaps, Bosch gauges, and a heater. This Jeep Forward Control is now offered by the seller on behalf of his father with spare parts, a service manual, an owner’s manual, a brick from the Willys Overland plant smokestack, and a clean Ohio title.”
