1942 Ford GPW BAT Auction
Timberwolf sent over their GPWs that are up for Auction on BAT.
INFORMATION FROM SELLER:
These two consecutive-serial-number 1942 Ford GPWs, chassis 712 and 713, are very early production (VEP) examples that are said to be among the approximately 2,000 built with Willys-style frames. The seller acquired the pair in 1997. Both trucks are finished in olive drab over matching canvas upholstery, and power for each is provided by a replacement flathead inline-four paired with a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. They underwent separate refurbishments under current ownership; GPW-713 was restored in the late 1990s, while GPW-712 was refurbished in the early 2020s with metal repairs to the body and frame. Equipment shared between the two includes 16″ steel wheels, folding windshields, Ford-script rear panels, and blackout lighting. These two GPWs are now offered as a pair in Shelby, North Carolina, with replacement windshield glass for GPW-712 and clean North Carolina titles in the seller’s name

Willys 1942 – 1945 body – $9,000 Spokane, WA

Willys 1942 – 1945 body – $9,000 Spokane, WA
Salad of sorts, the one pic shows some really heavy smoke. Needs an oil pan and some work.
INFORMATION FROM SELLER:
Willys 1942: frame, engine, tranny 1945 body

Original Flathead 4

Ford GPW

Winch works

It runs. Too many toys so time to sell. Has been kept in heated shop for years when not driving.

Items done by our mechanic:

Fuel:
Carburetor replaced with vehicle-specific Carter Carburetor. With the carburetor the updated air cleaner
assembly was also installed. The rubber fuel line which connects from the Fuel pump to the carburetor
was worn as well and a vintage-correct hardline was installed in its place. The mechanical fuel pump was
replaced with a version that allows manual priming and internal fuel filter as well.
Electrical:
The electrical on the passenger side of the engine bay was updated with modern fuses, replaced any
failing connections, and ensured there is now an ignition-based and constant-power fuse box. With this
update the electrical cables to the battery were replaced along with the battery itself. A battery tie-down
was installed as the original was being eaten by battery acid. During this update an additional ground
was also connected to ensure the chassis is grounded. The plate for the winch switch was fractured in
the center and a replacement was installed. Underhood wires are dressed in nylon sheathing for all fuse
box items.
Ignition:
Cap and rotor were replaced along with replacing the internals of the distributor with a point-less system
eliminating the need to adjust points in the future. Spark plugs, wires, and ignition coil were also
replaced.
Brakes:
The master brake cylinder was replaced with a vintage-correct model. Brakes were bled and fresh fluid
installed. E-brake appears to have been damaged or disconnected previously. Rear drivers brake drum
has no bleed valve to utilize, it is bolted instead.
Cooling:
Coolant was drained and refilled with fresh coolant.
Oil:
The vehicle has previously had the oil drain plug JB welded onto the oil pan. Due to this I was unable to
drain and refill the oil as I did not want to break the oil pan or have it leak due to the previous repair that
was on it. My suggestion would be to source a replacement oil pan when you are ready. Additionally, I
did attempt to update the vehicle with an oil filter system. Unfortunately, due to the manufacture of the
filter system it was unsuccessful. The filter simply would not actually pass oil through and back to the
engine. As a courtesy I have included all of those pieces at no cost to you as there was no way to return
it, and no way to get it to work. I did attempt to syphon the oil out to replace it, but it is simply too thick
to do so, even when the vehicle is warm. My suggestion again would be to replace the oil pan so that oil
changes can be accomplished in the future.

1945 Ford GPW $10,000 Las Vegas, NV ***SOLD***

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

***SOLD***

1945 Ford GPW $10,000 Las Vegas, NV

It’s a pretty cool rig that has been with him since he was 12, so its been through some adventures with him and his family along the way which is really cool. The modifications make sense for a trail rig that they used to explore all over the CA Sierras and then moved to Nevada. The rig will need some work, brakes and rough idle.

Information from seller:

This “sporterized” GPW has been in my family for 60 years. I learned how to drive this jeep when I was 12 years old in 1968 and drove it when I was in high school. We used it for hunting in the Sierras and my father kept it until 2010 when he could no longer drive. I’ve had it since, first in California and now in Nevada. I’m now too old to work on it, so it’s time to let another MB/GPW enthusiast take it!

Here are the modifications:

Engine: 1973 Ford Pinto 2.0 liter 4-cylinder

Electrical: 12V conversion throughout, tachometer, new battery and starter solenoid

Drive train: T90 with Warn overdrive, Cutlas Power Lock Hubs in front (turn rotating screws with screwdriver to engage FWD), 4:11 gears in rear differential

Fuel: Electric fuel pump, 20-gallon custom gas tank under rear seat, original fuel tank was removed due to corrosion. Valve in place for switching between front and rear tanks.

Brakes: Wheel cylinders and lines have been rebuilt; Tow bar has mechanically activated brake cylinder to add jeep braking along with tow vehicle.

Tires: BF Goodrich LT 235/75R15 tires and spare are like new

Accessories: Warn winch, Sun tarp and full soft top with frame, motorized windshield wipers, AM radio, Ash tray, Gun rack, Roll bar, Seat belts

Known issues: Master cylinder needs rebuild; brakes work but need fluid top-off every year. Carburetor needs rebuild – rough idle.

GPW

Information from seller:

1943 Willys MB GPW! This is a legit WWII GPW, it’s a project as the engine is currently seized and needs to be replaced. (Facebook doesn’t have an option for Willys)

It has a F-Head engine swapped in from a newer Jeep, but its locked up tight. The drivetrain is stock, otherwise.

It has a custom half-cab from a ’31-32 Ford pickup, custom hard doors, a bench seat and hood bump to clear the carburetor on the F-Head. The body is in pretty decent condition, despite looking pretty poor. There is some rust in the floor out back.

Comes with a near new GM 181 4 cyl industrial engine, it’s a torque monster and would fit with a factory hood. Along with the 181, I have a GM SM465 manual transmission. It would be a more modern, powerful engine with a deeper geared, beefy transmission. Great combo for a Willys!

I’m reluctant to let this one go, you don’t find GPW’s very often anymore. I do have a title for it, no trades, price is firm. Located in Grand Junction on the Redlands.
