The Great Willys Picnic was just that pretty great! Drive out went well caught up with some old friends and met a bunch of new folks, was really a nice day. Rained just a tad on the way home but overall was a wonderful day. Check out these photos I took at the event. If you are in the area next year or wanted to take a road trip it’s a worthwhile event for the family.
Thanks for sharing the pics. Quite the show of versatility.
Thanks Steve for checking them out, the format is a work in progress, on Mobile Device you can scroll for the whole Gallery, on regular computer Google is killing it IMO with ads and that’s not the intent at all here its like you have 2 settings OFF and Fire Hose, so apologize in advance playing with the Gallery settings and page settings, I did not catch that till this AM and I checked it on my laptop.
But it was an awesome show I learned alot about the early 46’s with the grill cutouts for the lights and its just neat to be able to walk between them and see the differences.
I think the fastest way to find the year of a CJ is to just call it something a few years off on purpose!!! JK…
But it’s a great event run by a great family, and you can bring the family out to this one and ride the train. The Train folks are so nice and for the most part they are a family of helpers as well when you talk to them and go to the gift shop for some stuff for the kids.
which one was your favorite?
Yes, on my computer it was a mission of back and forth to see the pics, and as you mentioned while being bombarded by ads. Still, since I can’t get to the picnic from South Florida, I enjoyed the “show”, a “bucket list” event.
I think I was impressed most by the front loader rig on a small lightweight Jeep, or maybe the absolutely “complete” collection of military accessories on that one Jeep.
That said, my “style” is more towards the yellow panel as I’m not a 4WD type. That’s why I have a DJ project that I call “My Concept Roadster”.
I enjoy the variances and “personalizations” each brings to the public for review. As good as the pics are, I’m sure that’s not as good as being there in person.
THANKS to ALL involved.
The red 46 CJ2A next to my Wagon was really nice, with the ax on the side and the Monroe lift in the back.
The Green FC was a nice one.
There were many more, the USMC MB was really detailed and had a lot of smalls to it that were interesting to get to talk to the owner about.
Made some headway on the Gallery view, so sorry to the folks in the AM that had to deal with that level of pain, not in my plans for that to do that. Bear with us at times we are trying out some stuff and as we automate have to dial it in at times.
Thanks for posting the pictures. I know that this a shot in the dark but does anyone our there have a early CJ-2A serial number 19464. I sold it in the mid 60’s to Richie Motors in Rising Sun Md. I have some history on it. It lived in Kennett Square Pa. for many years.
THANKS !
Rick
I can do a post to see if anyone knows about it, shot in the dark but hey if you dont ask kind of thing.

Mostly CJ’s surprised not to see more wagons, aside from yours Tim, I see only 1 other wagon. Being you drove the wagon to and from the meet, just curious to know your top speed and miles traveled. I’d never attempt to drive my 226 wagon with a screaming top speed of 55 mph any great distance, too much stress on me and the wagon.
55MPH with my 3.54 and 215-85R16 Coopers i
OD
1600RPM
Normal
2200RPM
I can comfortably run 60, but I usually am running 50-55.
There were 2 Wagons with mine being one, 4 Delivery (maybe 5), more trucks this year IMO, then yes the majority are CJ.
Only 230_OHC was mine. had some good conversation about the engine with some folks.
I will post back with a link to my OWF adventure when I get to posting that and share with you so you can follow along.
Its a great ride for me very scenic and not much traffic at all.
I took the little 48 Truck last year with the L134, it was an adventure, really fun to drive that, but at times was stressful for sure.
Its all back roads no highway, but PA has small 2 lane roads that are 55 MPH Speed Limit.
130 miles all in for the Round Trip.
