This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Joel is selling his grandfather’s willys-powered Hobart welder/generator. It ran when parked by his grandfather.

This Willys powered power unit has potential.
“Vintage 1944 WWII aircraft generator. This generator was running 10 years ago. Currently turns over, but we have not tried to start it. Has been dry garage stored for 30+ years.
Four cylinder Jeep Willy’s engine capable of generating 120V, and also 400Hz. There is a separate Chrysler starter motor (attached to flywheel) that can be hooked to a 6V battery for easy starting. A small hand crank for starting is also included.
It is a 2.5kW 400Hz aircraft generator, but has been modified for 120v 60Hz output on one outlet.
We do not have any manuals or paperwork for this unit. The manual is available via:

The manual is: TM 11-975 Power Unit PU-35/U (17 November 1944); 53 pages, 28 illus.
Dimensions on this unit are 47″ length x 22″ width x 38″ height. It is on small metal wheels. This would easily fit on a small trailer. A winch and set of ramps with careful management of the generator could be possible for one individual. It is very heavy though!

Finding an Empire Tractor is a rarity. Carl and I are finishing up a special post about them for eWillys sometime in May.
“Interesting little Empire tractor. These were built from left over Jeep and Willy’s parts from WWII. For the best source of information go to http://www.empiretractor.net – this one is almost complete, the engine, drive train, etc, is there. It’s missing some of the body/panels. Great project or if someone is restoring a 40’s/50’s Jeep or Willy’s, lots of good parts! $650 cash.”

The Hobart has a Willys Engine while the AIRCO has a Continental.

Here’s a neat compressor.
“Vintage 1963 Hesse Hornet powered by a 63 Jeep Kaiser 4 Cyl engine. Engine works by using two cyl to pump air into the compressor while the other two function normally. I haven’t started it but it appears to be in full working order. Asking 750 obo”
