This photo that Dan spotted shows an l-head powered 3-wheeled APU. I can’t remember seeing a bracket over the grille like that on other APUs.

Buying Tips
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. If you look closely at other APU 3-wheeler photos, almost all of them had the bracket. I wonder if it was for protecting the headlights?
I guess I need to look more closely then 🙂
I can’t think of any other reason other than to protect the headlights.
