Jim writes, “Took my 48 (with 3a windshield) out for a drive in Lovell ME and on the way back to the lake saw Steven King and his Red Telsa come to the only stop sign in town. Immediately shielded my eyes so he wouldn’t cast a spell on Willys. Why, read on ….
King is redoing a house for his daughter who has ms. He is putting a writing studio upstairs in a barn and she will be downstairs so he can be close by. They have multiple homes nearby. It is the same area where he a local driver accidentaly hit him as he was walking down the side of the road. And yes, one year later, the local died when his single wide burned down! Hence one must always avert your eyes when King and his red Telsa is on the road!!”
Jim didn’t get a photo of King’s Tesla, but a photo of his CJ-2A will do just fine!

Edward Fausel, event manager at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, is looking for a few FCs to add to the 2016 AutoFair. He already has a variety of unique jeeps both young and old, military and off road, along with drag jeeps, and would love to get some FC’s. The event takes place September 22-25, 2016.

” Has up for auction a really neat and particularly rare 1964 Willy’s Jeep F150 pick up!
This is an non restored driver quality vehicle that’s rust free and a blast to drive. The all steel body is straight and very presentable. The older paint finish is decent and only showing a few cosmetic nicks and minor blemishes. The glass, tires and wheels are in good condition. The underside is also very solid. The frame and all around structure are sound. The rear wooden bed could be redone if desired. Beginning to show considerable wear especially behind the cab. The rear bumper is constructed on wood. “1957 Willys Jeep A Trench. I am the owner and have the title. This is one of the rarest things I have ever seen. It has an Auburn trencher attachment which later became Ditch Witch. This Jeep has been sitting in a pole barn for at least 10 years! I pulled and flushed the gas tank , blew out the fuel lines and cleaned the carb. It fires up and runs good! It will need some brake work! It was originally a baby blue color. It was repainted nearly 15 years ago. There was some patching done on the floor boards at that time. I’m sure they also patched it elsewhere. The paint job is fair for its age. It has some paint bubbles on the right rear quarter The interior is pretty nice and it shows 7770 original miles. Tires have excellent tread but are weather cracked. If you have an interest I urge you to come and look at it !! I have a lot of pictures. More than I can show here. I will gladly send you more. What a unique piece of equipment to own.. It is a 1957 and is not perfect. But would make a awesome restoration project. Sold as is needing TLC! Engine runs great!”

Bidding starts at $3000. The jeeps needs some work, but it includes a Warn winch and an overdrive. Lots to like here.

I’d say referred rather than restored. The dash has a radio and there’s no parking brake, among other minor issues.
“Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this nicely restored 1953 Willys Jeep CJ-3B. Finished in quintessential Olive Drab, the body was removed from the frame, all rust remediated, and the floors rhino-lined on both sides. New NDT military-grade tires; new canvas top and seat covers. It’s straight, solid, and never fails to turn heads or invite conversation.
No-nonsense interior has been upgraded with modern gauges and a modern AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth and aux input; speakers are housed in repurposed ammunition boxes and sound great.
1953 was the first year for the CJ-3B and is noted for its “high hood,” a design change required to accommodate the taller overhead valve “Hurricane” engine (a nice improvement in performance over the previous flathead).
Fewer than 700 miles on rebuilt engine and transmission with new clutch, starter, alternator, batter, fuel tank, tune-up items and rebuilt carb. Starts easily and runs and drives well. For more information about this 1953 Willys CJ3B for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, please call 404-692-5250.”
