After fixing some wiring and correcting the clutch cable length, I was able to take Patterson down the street and back. Brakes worked, clutch worked, and it felt like there was plenty of power. However, it’s definitely running rich, so we’ll tackle that tomorrow, along with improving the timing.

Now that’s progress guys now down to the little things! You kinda looked like the patch Dave, but thank goodness, you had clothes on. Looking forward to more progress reports.

Congratulations on all your progress. Ann, the video and rolling commentary was great! Your first drive in a DJ3A! Fun , aren’t they! Not sure about several thousand miles to Alaska and back in one though!! Take extra pillows to sit on!!

FYI, I have found a lot of carbs set up with the wrong jet size on the float valve. The common kits are often sized for the 6 cylinder engine rather than the F or L heads so they run rich. I can’t remember the two different sizes but I found the info on the ‘net. The easy fix if the hole is oversized is to solder it and redrill with the proper size.
