1964 Jeep CJ5, 4 Cylinder Hurricane, 3 Speed with Overdrive, Mechanically all new ready to go

I agree with Tim, great looking Jeep that you couldn’t restore one for st that price. Compare it with some of the under restored-over priced M38A1s here.
Not junked up with aftermarket stuff..except modern radio, hopefully a period looking one would fit.
If I didn’t have mine, I’d buy this one.
yes very nice CJ5. love the top. but with 4 cylinder it’s just like a big toy. you could drive it home but slowly.
B…you’re probably correct on the power, but remember back in the ’60s nobody bought a CJ-5 with the aim of making it a hi-way car.
If it left the fam or ranch it was just to go to the hardware store, if bought as a recreational vehicle, it was used to go fishing or hunting….probably not as a second/third family car.
Having said that, my M38A1 has a four, it think its top speed (and I’m using the term loosely) is governed more by the hearing than power. I think (hope) civil.CJ-5s.would be better.
I had a 304 ci V-8 in a ’77 Renegade, it had plenty of power, but with the factory three speed and brick like aerodynamics (again using the term loosely) I got 10 MPG. Makes my V-10 Excursion look like a Tesla.
So, perhaps Willys was onto something by with their V-6….when four isn’t enough and 8 is too many.
back in Sr year in high school 74-75 my dad got me 59 cj3b. nice one. $500 bucks. low mileage.
back then on snowy days and nights if you were on the road going anywhere you were only person on the road. now people drive their 4 WD su’s in deep now to go to Starbucks.
some people like old-time from cj3b page have used these little toy jeeps as a daily driver. and you can. the difference between 50 years ago and now is night and day. these old little Willy’s have their place in history for sure. but now all they are is fun little machines to putz around in.
Nice jeep but it’s listed also as a tuxedo park. Am I missing the tuxedo park items or just mis listed.
Originally was a tuxedo park 8322 serial # but for the most part all of the trim items have been removed over the years. I still do have all the chrome hinges etc. Does have the larger V6 steering box which was a tuxedo park only item that year.
