The engine definitely isn’t a 283 Chevy. Chevys have the distributor at the rear of the engine. This looks like a V6, maybe a Buick.
Colin .. you are right about that. The engine in the picture is definitely a Buick V6. It could be the seller is wrong or that the pictures are old and it was replaced.
