Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. There’s some good updates to this jeep and it looks good too, but there’s also some unmentioned items that need fixing.

While it doesn’t appear to be in perfect condition, it does appear to be in very good, completely stock condition. This appears to be an excellent restoration candidate.
“This is a very rare Jeep, Built in Jan 1943 for the military to be used during World War 2, very solid, only a few small rust spots, very original with combat wheels, original seats,spare tire mount, jerry gas can mount,original ftathead 4 cyl engine and 3 spd transmission.Has original 4X4 high/low range transfer case, very intact, needs glove box door, couple gauges, soft top and bows, all avaiable new reproduction, easy one to restore, engine spins free and was running 9 years ago when parked. This Jeep has been in Montana for 10 years and at least 10 years in California prior to that.These WW2 Jeeps sell for 25-30K restored and they are easy to restore, has clear title”

This jeep has a tailgate and a later model grille,but no gas tank inlet. Maybe it’s a repro tub?
“1942 Willy’s Jeep flat head 4cyl in good condition, runs and drives. Reconditioned head, new head gasket, new spark plugs, new front brakes, new bearings/seals in front end, and rebuilt starter. The body has been recently painted and the seats have been recovered, and are in great shape. Aluminum wheels and 31″ procomp tires. Owner’s manual included.”

“1942 Jeep, turn key. Hurricane 6 cylinder over head valve engine. Lots of power. rebuilt carb, new springs. nice tires, clear title, no rust. tune up. Very nice jeep to drive.$3500”

“Willys MB, WWII Jeep. Rough, but runs well. Can be restored to original. New wheel bearings & brakes. Some spares & WWII paint. 4 cyl, 3 speed 4WD.”
This MB looks like a play jeep. It does not appear to be licensed. I wonder if the stock axles were upgraded. I’d think that power and those tires would be hard on stock MB axles.
“I’VE OWNED LOTS OF JEEPS IN THE PAST, BUT THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE IN THE PAST I’VE TURNED DOWN NUMEROUS OFFERS TO SELL IT BUT COULD NOT PART WITH IT. WILLY HAS A 283 CHEVY V-8 RUNS SMOOTH, QUIET,AND COOL. IT HAS HEADERS AND GLASS PACKS AND SOUNDS LIKE A V-8 SHOULD. IT HAS A 350 TURBO TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS BEEN REBUILT AND IS A STOCK TRANNY. THE REST OF THE DRIVE TRAIN IS STOCK I THINK? WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE 4X4 LOCK OUT HUBS. FOR ADDED DRIVE ABILITY I’VE ADDED A STEERING BOX WITH A GM POWER STEERING PUMP WHICH MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE IN MANEUVERING THE 31 X15 GOODYEAR TERRA TIRES ON 14 INCH WIDE STEEL RIMS.”
This is right over the hill from me. I really don’t know how rare these are, but I could run and pick it up if someone’s interested in it.
“Hard to find single rib Willys bell housing for 4 Cylinder L-Head (CJ2A, MB, GPW Jeep). I removed this from my GPW. It’s in good shape with no cracks. It will bolt up to a T90 and T84 transmission. It’s for the CJ2A jeep or early flat fenders. It includes the original inspection cover. Somebody drilled another drain hole in the bottom (see photo).”
It isn’t clear to me whether this runs or not.
“1942 Willies Military (Navy) Jeep complete with most original hardware. $1,700 includes extra engine. Ready for restoration.”
This appears to have a later model windshield. It’s hard to tell much else from the pictures.
