About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
Lots of useful trail-oriented upgrades on this jeep.
“1946 Willy’s JEEP Rubicon-Trail veteran. Engine – Buick V6. Full roll-cage, custom roof-rack, new seats, new frame “boxed-in”, tow bar, custom fuel tank with skid plates, 456 gears, 2 gas can racks, disk brakes, Detroit lockers, diamond plate body guards, aluminum rims (tires in good condition), high lift jack etc. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** .. and it is heading to Norway. Congrats to James and to the new owner (whom I hope sends pics of it from Norway!). James wants to thank Ron from the G503 Site for helping out with this.
James has decided to sell his 1946 VEC CJ-2A #18526, column shift, driver’s indents, no rust. original docs and rear glass light. It works great and is in fantastic shape. He simply wants to have something he can modify and he doesn’t want to modify this CJ-2A because it is in such good shape.
James writes: It has original motor and all ACMs match 8057. A lot of work was done in 1985 at Archer Bros, Hayward. Motor wa rebuilt at 51k and is now at almost 62k. There is no rust. The springs and shackles not original; instead it has a superlift 2.5″. The top bow side holders and rear corner brackets have been removed. The front bumper mount has one ‘bubba weld’ and the rear bumper removed. I have the original rear light, trailer socket cover, and vacuum wiper. There are rear ‘bubba’ 4″ cutouts for lights. I’m the 4th owner and have lots of reciepts and docs. The Original owner had it until 1985, the 2nd to 2007, the 3rd to last year then me. This cj is a blast to drive and my family loves it, but I just can’t mod it like I want. It has survived 63 years without any major mods and I don’t have the heart to start ripping it up now.
****SOLD ****
Pic from when first purchased, before James cleaned it up a little:
Recent pic — James pulled off the diamond plating and, to his amazement, found no rust or damage:
“1946 jeep willys it is all origianl has some rust……… runs good needs the starter rebuilt it is a great woods jeep goes better than any thing out there…. i need to sell or trade for work truck or work van asap”
“I have a 1948 Jeep Willys, it has a full roll cage soft top and bikini top included, tow bar, the tub is in good shape all it needs is a motor, it had a 350 in it, still has a munsy 4 speed. We have out first baby on the way and would be willing to trade for a family vehicle of the same value. if not 1500 cash OBO will do. please call for any questions. 209-781-0598 Cole.”
It’s got a big dent on the driver’s side tail, but otherwise looks good.
“Newest daughter just arrived and Jeep has to go. Great vehicle but not a family cruiser. Collector or workhorse, your choice. Comes with 6′ Meyers plow. Runs and operates fine. Homemade soft top. Open to trades for newer Wrangler or CJ otherwise $2725″
This might be a good price. I’m wondering if it is a VEC CJ-2A.
“Jeep Willy’s 4 x 4 registered as a 1946 but has characteristics of 1941-42 military jeep. Needs water pump and starter as it grinds sometimes. Original L head 4 cylinder engine and tranny. Has tool boxes in back and a spare on the back. New battery. Love this jeep but have too many toys! Very fun to drive out in the desert. Reduced price from $3000.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Robert purchased this deal. I didn’t notice before, but those are Desert Dog Tires (and I’m likely the only person who cares)!
I would image the Overdrive is probably is reasonable shape, potentially making this a decent deal, especially if the price drops.
“This is one of those projects that you never get around too. The rear spark plug is missing and it appears that the cylinder has collected water over the years so I am sure that the engine needs major work. the transmission shift does not move, no idea. It has an overdrive kit purchased through J. C. Whitney so there are four shifting levers, regular transmission, high low range, four wheel drive, and overdrive. The body has some surface rust and a few holes in the floor boards but basically sound. ”
You can see this sports a column shift. And, it sports a seized motor.
“i have a 1946 willys jeep (an old army jeep) motor is seized but all origanal no roit surfaced rust only it has a steel top that was custum made for it that was made in west vergina a good old jeep ideal for somone to restore i have more pictures i can send if needed $4000.00 or best offer call robin 1-413-659-2621 leave message speak slowy and clearly thanks”
“1948 Willy Jeep, not running. Sitting on an early ’80s CJ frame with a Buick V6 under the hood. Ignition needs rewiring, and fuel tank/pump needs to be pulled and checked out/sealed. Will turn over, but couldn’t get it to fire with starter fluid. Bought it to fix up, but have since bought a new house and until I get a shop built at the new house, no room for all my projects. Comes with tow bar that is attached to the front and will throw in the ignition switches I purchased to install. It’s rough looking, but would make a fun project or hunting truck. Currently no fluid in the brake reservoir and I’m unsure on what they’ll need. No title, but I’ll provide a bill of sale along with the bill of sale I received and a copy of the last registered owner information that I have. That’s about everything I know about it. $750 obo. Will consider trades for an ATV, double door white refrigerator & cash (email dimensions), .45 cal pistol (looking for a Kimber ultra carry, but will consider others), tractor, box blade…..”
To the seller’s credit, they don’t sugar coat a couple of points, including noting the decent body, ugly hood scoop built around the radiator, [and] really awful paint.
“CJ2A has been parked a long time, was running 4 years ago. Its a project but could make a good cheap hunting/ranch/camping/rock crawler. Has a rebuilt Ford V8, hanging peddle conversion, decent body, ugly hood scoop built around the radiator, really awful paint. I will include another hood, a correct gas tank, a heavy duty roll bar, a tow bar, military gas can with mount, a jeep 15 inch spare wheel and a factory tire carrier. No title, bill of sale only, sold as is, can help with delivery if not to far away or maybe for the cost of diesel if out of town. Would consider part trades for jeep stuff/parts, winch, military/hunting/cowboy stuff etc”
