Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (10/27/2011) This has sat for 40 years.
“1946 Willy’s Jeep. This jeep has a four cylinder over head valve engine that has been converted to 12 volt. The motor has been rebuilt but never started. Has been sitting in a garage for 40 years. All of the gauges come with the jeep, they have been removed so they would not be broken. Drive train is in very good condition the front hubs have been replaced. The frame is in very good condition and is not rusted (other than normal oxidation) through anywhere. As you can see the body is pretty rough and needs TLC or a new tub. Comes with 8 rims and tires.”

“selling my 1946 Willys Jeep with a Fuel Injected 327 Chevy V-8 has dual exhaust with cut outs, 4-Speed manule trans and 4.30 gears, it has a small lift with 33″ B.F.G.s, it runs great and its a blast in the dunes but work and the wife leaves me with no time to play with it so I’m letting it go”

Given the running gear, there appears to be some value. Not a whole lot though.
“1948 Willys for parts or restoration. Engine/drivetrain all there.(Got engine running for around a min. a year ago and it sounds like it needs an engine rebuild) DOES NOT RUN CURRENTLY. FRAME has crack in it that and looks like a previous owner bolted plates to try to repair frame (see pic). Has passenger seat as well. Floor pans pretty much gone as well as seen in pics.

UPDATE: The blue/red jeep has been for sale since 2009, but the seller is now throwing in the other jeep. Note the desert dog tires. I like the old rims, too.

This is a mix of M-38/CJ-2A and other parts.
“1948 Willy’s CJ2A Jeep. Has a 1971 Buick 231 V6 with Hedman headers. Manual and electric fuel pump. 2 fuel cells, orignal cell under the seat and a rear 12 Gal cell. Rebuilt steering box, Warn hubs and 31 spline axles a full roll cage. Has a 3 speed transmission with overdrive.
