This looks like a parts Jeep (post 1956 CJ-3B). This has a solid back. I’m assuming that is filled in, but the joint marks aren’t too obvious.

UPDATE: Both are still available. The CJ-3B is now listed at Hemmings.
Located down in Miami, Fl, and formerly located at the Trump International Beach and Hotel, the Dezer Museum became a public museum in 2010. It is now housed in a 250,000 square foot complex that showcases a collection of 600 cars, thousands of memorabilia items, a food court, shopping and more.
The collection currently has two jeeps. One is a 1951 M-38 (which can be bought for $20,000) and a CJ-3B (which they have incorrectly listed as a 1951 and is for sale for $25,000)
Here are some pics of the CJ-3B:

“Rare 1959 Cj3BM Jeep; Made in Japan by Mitsubishi. Needs to be restored. Motor runs but smokes a little. Steering box needs rebuilding. $3000 firm.”
This doesn’t look too bad; if the price is right this might be a good project.
“1956 Willys CJ3B. Original working warn winch, good tires, body is rough and needs to be restored. This jeep was running until about 10 months ago. It has been sitting behind my house since I have not had time to work on it. With a little work it could be running again soon. I need this out of my back yard! I have all the manuals and some parts that will go with it.The first reasonable offer will get this Jeep. Please email me with any questions.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000
(12/02/2010) This looks like a good deal.
“1963 Willy’s high hood, original 4 cylinder motor runs great, 33″ tires, aluminum wheels, full size spare, twin stick transfer case, front locker, bimini top & soft top, tow bar included. Exellent wheeler. 3,000 OBO”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $1000
(11/24/2010) This looks like a serious project.
“Though partially dismantled, this 1955 Jeep CJ3B is in fair condition but needs a new tub. Someone in its past really took good care of it but put carpeting on the floor. The person I bought it from had left it sitting outside for a couple of years so the wet carpet rotted the floors. The frame underneath is in great condition still. The original motor is complete but not running. It also has a PTO winch.
All-in-all, it would not be hard to restore or upgrade this little monster. I bought this 3B about 3 years ago, parked it in my garage, and started taking it apart. Around the same time, I took on a new job that has since absorbed the majority of my life. So now I feel I must get rid of some projects, this being one of them.”

Sebastian pointed me to some nice photos taken by Julian Castro on October 15, 2010, in Armenia, Quindio, Colombia. Below are a few of them. You can see more here.
