Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Jim spotted this CJ-5 for sale. Looks pretty stock. The seller obviously covets minimalist ads, since there is not year, no price, and no description.

There are some interestin storage addons in the cab area. I wonder how you release the windshield with the thing on the dash covering the left windshield latch?

(08/22/2014) Listed as a 1953 M-38A1, the body and grille are from a CJ-5.
“This old military version of the CJ, an MB, has been an incredibly dependable off road warrior for the family for over 30 years. Our 24 yr old daughter learned to drive in it. As the photos show, it has seen better times cosmetically, but the ol’ girl is as capable and reliable as ever. Posi in the front with limited slip in the rear, dual lever transfer case, power saginaw steering, CB, Chey 327 engine, runs strong, always cool with huge old Cadillac radiator, Warn hubs, new brakes all the way around, lots of rubber. Solid Half doors, Heavy tow bar. An old style performer. Restore or drive as is.”

“Here is a 4-wheel drive 3 speed has rare factory heater that works.134 Lincoln motor and T90 transmission.Lockout hubs military hard top, new leaf springs, brush front bumper with additional lights, roll bar with spare tire mount and brackets for overhead lights.15 gallon tank in rear gets about 20 miles to gallon.Fresh brakes and drums, speedometor needs a cable.Miles unknown.Street legal.Running gears in good condition.All lights work.I have both front steel doors but need hinges and latches and doors have sliding glass windows and has new windshield.Dependable truck, but needs a battery.”

It runs and drives, but body is rough.

New radiator was $300 and Tires were $200 not long ago.
This Jeep had a V8-304 and three speed manual and seemed to run good before it clunked out..:D
The owner of this Jeep works 1st shift and gets off at 3:30 so after that for inspection.
P.S. I also have a friend with a rollback truck in case you need it dropped off somewhere and will give you his number to get it in your driveway.”
