Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. It needs rewiring finished, but that shouldn’t be too difficult. There’s some value here.
“I have a 1958 Willy’s CJ5 Jeep that was a ranch jeep until it was moved here to Oakdale where we used it in our pastures. Started to rewire it and just never got around to finishing it. Have all the parts, just not the time. You want a project jeep it has an “Odd Fire” V6 that ran pretty strong until I started to rewire it. If you have the time come take a long and if you want to talk price I am willing within reason.
I forgot to add that this does have a hitch for towing the Jeep but since I’ve never towed it on the road I don’t know what the legalities of it are.”

“This runs great. Also moves & stops but not road worthy. This has brand new rear springs that need to be installed. I do not have a reg. for it. This is probably better as a donor or lot truck .The plow blade needs repair or you can replace it. I plowed 2 big driveways all winter with out a problem. Junkers no thank-you. 657-3312”

“For sale is a combo, restored 1956 Willys CJ-5 jeep and 1966 Bantam civilian 1/4 ton jeep trailer. They were both restored and painted to match just a few years ago, then stored in a building. The jeep has a metal half cab, heater, new upholstry, Ramsey 8,000 lb winch that has never had the cable spooled out, Warn over-drive, original 4 cylinder overhead that runs great, new front hubs, roll bar, small driving lights inside the grill, rack on the back for extra spare tire and handy-man jack and 5 gallon gas can (included). The trailer is a 1966 Bantam 1/4 ton civilain trailer (more rare than the military version), wood racks, spare tire, detachable tool box, and wired to match the jeep. PLUS, this also comes with a full set of mud and snow tires for BOTH the jeep and trailer, already mounted on a full set of spare wheels. I will not split the set up, this is a package deal. Compare the price of this set to a new “Rhino” at close to $11,000, and it makes this jeep and trailer look well worth the price. I have more money invested than the asking price of this jeep and trailer, with the restoration, extra tires and wheels… Clear Oregon titles. These pictures were taken about a week ago. This is a project. It looks like the body has been patched together.
“I have a Kaiser-Willys 1965 CJ5 that is a project that is almost road worthy. Come have a look and make me an offer. $1200 OBO.
Has a running 4 cyl overhead “Hurricane” F-134 motor, T-90 3speed transmission, and Dana 18 transfer case.
The axles are a Dana 44 rear axle and Dana 27 front axle with original Warn lockers.
The jeep has a NEW clutch and NEW transmission (Has been installed –See Picture)
It has a NEW brake master cyclinder however the condition of brakes is unknown because the brake line is disconnected.
Original seats, but they are rough… I added padding and wrapped them with duct tape, intending to put a seat cover over them. They are usable but might want to have reupholsered.
The Original steel jeep rims are 16 inch, 5 x5.5 bolt pattern. Rims have been sandblasted, primed and painted gloss white
The Windshield in good shape with electric wiper motors instead of vacuum wipers. This was pulled from a ’72 jeep cause the orginal was rusted out.
The Floor boards in the process of being replaced, Rocker panels are also being replaced.
The Frame is in good shape having no rust through. Frame has been sandblasted and painted.
INcluded is a raggedy old soft top and soft doors, keeps the weather out, but nothing special to look at.
The Jeep has side mounted spare tire carrrier with full sized spare.
Tires are old and have cracks in them but hold air fine. I would replace them to go on the road.
NEW components include: starter solenoid, wires, spark plugs and fuel filter.
There is a stock heater and an after market 2nd heater is installed… dont know if they work.
This is great vintage jeep. Fix the brakes, tires and tail lights and you canbe on the road. It will be a fun little around town, parkway cuiser or trail jeep. Most of the major stuff has been done…. does need finishing to be drivable. I have an open NC title in hand.
