Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This must be a pretty early CJ-5 given the speedo. That hoop is crazy vintage (not sure it would do much good if you did roll). And yet, it’s so odd, I like it.

“For sale is a very nice example of an unmolested early Willys Jeep CJ5. Its a 1957 with just over 14,000 original miles.. Starts, runs, drives, and stops as it should. This would be an incredible piece to do a full restoration on or just enjoy the originality and patina of it and hop in and go just like it is. That was my original intention on this one, just to address a few of the minor rust spots and enjoy it just like it is and was meant to be.”

Apparently, this was author John Irving’s jeep at one point. Note that it appears to have later model fenders.
Has some dings, but it appears to be a solid, pretty stock CJ-5 ready for some jeeping. Looks like a good price.

This is a unique item that Roger Martin spotted. If you are a CJ-5 collector, you probably don’t own a CJ-5 chassis sporting an original Frank Zamboni-created Model FH!
“This is a 1959 FH model zamboni built by Frank Zamboni himself. The serial number is FH197 less than 20 of these were ever built. It is the high capacity model designed for outdoor ice rinks. It needs a complete restoration it’s built on a Jeep cj5 frame and Jeep 4cyl concerted to propane. It was running and being used in Lake Placid up until about 6 years ago when a new machine was purchased. At that time this one started to be stripped down to restore bc it’s such a fascinating piece of history, but have run out of time to put into it. I am going to put the listing up for 7 days no reasonable offer will be refused”

Between the hardtop, overdrive, and winch, there could be some value here.
“1957 Willy’s Jeep, 3 speed with overdrive, 4 shifters. Buick V6 conversion. Hard top winch new tires tow bar. Nice old Jeep.”
