Paul found this special government-ordered CJ-6 with a little extra traction.
According to the website usual locomotion, “Sno-Ball Jeep CJ6 Snowcat, 1956. Contract between Jeep and Sno Ball Corp. created this vehicle to transport crews over deep snow. They were provided to the US Forest Service and the FAA. 20 were built in 1956 and only one is remaining. Tracks are rubber belted and the grousers are in steel. This Sno-Ball Jeep stayed in Colorado and was sold in 2004. The Snowcat used a Jeep engine, transmission and cab in 1956. Original wheels and axles could be mounted back but there was an extra frame lift.”
You can see all kinds of photos of an original Snowcat that appeared on eBay in 2004:

“The 1967 Willies CJ-6 jeep was only manufactured for the military and civilian law enforcement. This particular jeep was the Los Angeles County California Search and Rescue vehicle. Very limited use, mostly in parades and such with only 42,000 original miles. This jeep is in excellent original condition with minor upgrades, like law enforcements electrical package. No tears in the seats and no body rust. Features one of the best off road tire packages. Cooper Discover STT, M&S, 32X11.50 R 15LT, Load Range C and Ultra custom wheels. Paid $4,000 for the tire & wheel package alone and they have maybe 200 miles on them. Have the original tires and wheels, which will go with the jeep. Hard to find original PTO wench and the virtually indestructible 4 cylinder motor, new exhaust. Runs great. Been parked for the last few years, so I’ll throw in a new battery. This is truly a very rare collectable. $12,000 Located in Boise, Idaho.”

“I have a very rare 1957 CJ6 Jeep with hard top and overdrive. 49,000 miles.
Has been sitting in a garage for the last 25-30 years.
It is completely stock with one primary exception, it has an early model Chevy V8 in it.
The jeep has some very common rust areas, comes with hardtop, hard doors, 60/40 bench seat, 3 speed tranny, 2 speed T-case with overdrive, stock axles, stock wheels with hub caps, clear title.
You will not find another person with a jeep like this.
It is not pretty, it needs a full restoration, but it’s pretty much all there.
I also have an orginal and complete F134 four cylinder engine I will throw in for an additional $400.
Serious buyers only, no lookiloos and no low ball hagglers. No tire kickers allowed.
Photos available shortly by email.”
