Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This brochure looks in good shape.
“Original, NOS, New Old Stock, 1959 JEEP Universal Model CJ-6 Part Color Sales Brochure. Presented by Willys Motors, Inc. Willys-Overland Export Corp., Toledo, Ohio….Form No. 59-10. Nicely illustrated & covers the CJ-6 Four-Wheel Drive vehicle & it’s 4-cylinder F-Head “Hurricane” Engine. Also lists specifications. Fold out brochure measures 8 5/8″ X 3 3/4″ & unfolds to 3 times the size, printed on both sides. EXCELLENT (as new!) CONDITION, clean & crisp with NO rips or tears.”

“Classic 1965 Jeep! Basically a one owner car, with the title passed on to a family member. Inspected and runs well, all 23,632 miles are original! Take a look at the pictures, and then come take it for a drive!!”
Pascal just purchased this jeep. Though it is four wheel drive, the serial number suggests it is a DJ-6. I looked up the serial number and I found one site that suggests the serial number is a DJ-6. Anyone know the DJ-6 serial numbers?
Pascal writes, ” I’m writing to you because I bought another jeep last weekend. (Yep my wife is still loving me…for how long? For a jeep life I hope!). I’m pretty sure that’s a DJ-6 1965 even if seller told me that was a CJ-6 1962. Serial number is 8605 10062. It’s also stamped on the frame.
It has two fuel tanks. It looks original. It also has 4×4 and I think a Meyer hard top. The mileage reads 29xxx miles. The motor’s serial number is 4J418884.”

I believe this answers my question about the DJ-6 serial number. The DJ-6 model number is referred to as 8605.

“This is a hard to find model, the first generation scrambler. This is a project, but does run good, shifts, stops, and 4×4 works. Frame is in very good shape, but body sheet metal pretty much gone. Has a snow plow with hydraulic lift and manual angle. 586-419-4196”

This runs and drives, but stopping is another matter.
“I have a 1960 cj6 Willis jeep project with a 4cly flathead Motor that starts and runs great to be as old as it is. The only thing it needs is breaks. It has no breaks at all. But the 4×4 and clutch is very strong . No title if interested call danny or would maybe interested in trading for a 400ex Honda 4 wheeler ”
