Has a later model oil bracket (oval or hole type). Might be a 3A/M-38/or DJ-3a engine.
“This is from an old Willys Jeep. My father purchased it many years ago and said it was used as an instructional tool for an auto shop class. Supposedly all new and never run. Make offer.”

“A 1948 Willys CJ2A engine with clutch and bellhousing, intake/exhaust manifolds, cylinder head, oil filter, fuel pump, and all sheet metal parts.
The motor will not turn over due to internal rust but should be rebuildable. It holds both water and oil so there does not appear to be any freeze damage. I do not have a carburetor for it.”

Paul spotted this hi-compression head designed for high altitude engines. As I understand it, the “High Altitude” option had a higher compression ratio of 7.4:1, compared with the stock ratio of 6.9:1.

Code on the block is 638682w2. We also have a blackout light from it
