Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I wasn’t aware that Oddfire 231’s existed, but based on what I’ve read, the 231 was a reworking of the 225 with Buick 350 V-8 parts, resulting in the 231’s large displacement. In 1977, Buick introduced the first even fire 231.

Listed as a 1944, it isn’t. Looks more like an early 1950s to me based on the transmission cross member.

“i have a brand new willys jeep l 134 4 cyl engine military block. block has pistons and rings main bearing caps & bearings it has been in storage it is in a military wood box. block is covered in cosmoline to keep it from rusting not sure of the year but i think it from the 40 s”

“first, I was going to put this engine into my C-J-2 willys jeep I was restoring, then I thought I’d have to make a hole on top of the hood for the carburetor because it was to high. I found a 4-134-L flat head that was as good as this one, so I bought it and that’s what I finely put in. this motor runs very good, I have it on a stand if you want to hear it come and look. I do not take e-mail’s or text just call my phone”

IT HAS ALL THE ACCESORIES ON IT INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS, GENERATOR, IGNITION COIL, FLYWEEL, CLUTCH, BELLHOUSING, STARTER AND CARBERATOR WITH ALL THE LINKAGE. ENGINE TURNS OVER BY HAND AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS A RUNNER BUT IT WAS REMOVED BEFORE I PURCHASED IT. ”

“Wof (Willys Overland France) engine for sale located in Connecticut. Looking inside the spark plug, oil fill and oil filter holes everything looks fresh and new. I have other photos i can email.”

“1951 Willys Jeep engine and transmission and overdrive for sale. Four cylinder 134 ci F-head. Regularly driven and used– doesn’t smoke or make any bad noises. All systems working including the overdrive. Been converted to 12v.
My apologies for not being more clear: this is being removed from a 2 wheel drive Willys wagon. There is no transfer case. The overdrive is engaged by a push-pull control under the dash.
Will be available in about a week. You haul, its in the Eugene Springfield area.”
I believe this is a hard-to-find L-161 engine?
