This issue of Speed Mechanics has an article about souping the Willys F-head, according to the description.
HOG spotted this potential deal on two F-Head motors.
“I have two 134ci fhead motor that are good for parts I have a set of new motor mounts and and a water pump that that was just put on so its still new I can sell parts separate or hole its up to you is hate to see these parts go to wast”
This has not been started by the seller.
“I am unsure of the year maybe you can tell from the pictures. Army jeep motor i believe out of a Ford jeep since it is marked GPW. Call 1910-305-590seven for more info. Also have some cj body style m38a1 jeeps sold seperately. I have not cranked the motor it lacks a starter. Someone had threw it inside a m38a1 when i purchased it. Motor appears to have the original carb. I would be interested in any and all trades of similar value”

Glenn forwarded a couple pages of this old catalog for hi-performance parts that included a few for the jeep. He sent these to me after a short discussion with Scott, who races using F-head and L-head motors (more on that to come).
According to Scott, “I have bored them up to .092 oversized and I have had about 6 different cams made by crane cams. The motor I have had the best luck with so far is .060 over with dome style pistons. It has 1.7 ratio roller rockers. It is a F head. I cut the side of the head open and welded the water jackets and built an intake manifold that is 8″ high. With a 500 cfm holley ive been able to get 7000 rpm out of it.”
Scott’s experimentation has been done simultaneous to Sam at Flatfender Willys, who experimented, just for fun, with hi-po parts in a flat head with modern honda fuel injection. Sam did a few other things to the engine, but I don’t precisely remember what. Sam and a friend drove the motor hard, before it finally gave out, though a couple transfer cases and a drive line gave out before the motor did.
Here are the two pages from Glenn.
This might be the right fit for someone’s project.
“Complete from carb down, 24 stud 59 A-B Block. I think its out of a ?46-47? car. Comes with attached ford car trans mated to a 59 Willys Jeep transfer case. would be a interesting setup for a 4wd hotrod. 618-4zero1-zero152 appears to be in good condition, turns freely, don’t know if it runs never tried it since the starter doesn’t work.”

“I have a 1948 willlys jeep motor L-134. I purchased this motor and was told it was re-built, but it has what I believe is a wrist pin tick. It runs great and burned no oil and no leaks. the price is $500 firm.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $500
“This is a very strong 4 cylinder engine that fits well in Willys and flat fender jeeps. This particular engine has VERY high compression due to high performance forged pistons from a DZ302(this 151 is half the size of a 302 with the same bore). It will require high octaine gas!! It was built to run hard while steep climbing at low rpm and has been through the Rubicon numerous times. Additionally, with the combination of this Webber 2 barrel carb this engine can run virtually stait up with out over flooding the floats or stalling out.”
UPDATE: ***SOLD**
