This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Jason reports that his family continued their annual jeep weekend.
“The King family of Parke County, Indiana held their 9th annual Sweetwater Run Jeep Rally over the 4th of July weekend, 2019. Family members, and extended family members came from six states. Those traveling the farthest came from Oregon. Several events were held…… Favorite Jeep contest, A nine-mile timed route with each leg a different speed, to name a couple.
After a pitch-in Bar-B-Que dinner we followed the trail of the Wabash and Erie Canal. We ended our afternoon Jeep Tour by driving up the world-famous Newport Hill…. where the Newport Hill Climb (newporthillclimb.com) is held annually during the first weekend of October.
We ended the day with music. Singer/songwriter Jack Shannon performed an hour of original songs. His singing and guitar playing was enjoyed by everyone.”

Joe shared these pics from the Fort Miles Living-History Group (261st Coast Artillery/1252d Service Command) participation in Bethany Beach, Delaware’s, Independence Day parade. The pics were taken in the parade form-up area. The group included both WWII & Post-War military vehicles.
This popped up on an unrelated Google search. There’s a Sheriff’s Jeepfest in Jasper, Georgia, August 29th – September 1. I don’t know anything about it.

The 2019 Toledo Jeep Fest will be a three-day event this year, August 9th – August 11th. You can see a schedule of events here: https://toledojeepfest.com/plan-your-weekend/schedule-of-events/. We can’t make it this year, but maybe we can get to the next one.
There’s a jeep swap meet in Kingston, Georgia, Saturday June 29th. I don’t know anything about it.

The heater looks like it was perfect for this years Great Willys Picnic. Thanks to Craig, we’ve got some photos.
He also wanted to mention some details about the “Camel Towing” pickup: Under the hood was a 4 litre engine from a Wrangler, converted to carbs. Except for a small cut in the firewall and a notch into a cross-brace, you’d think the engine was original equipment. He even retained the engine’s cooling fan, without having to switch to an electrical fan set up. I thought I took a picture of the engine compartment, but apparently did not. He did have to raise the suspension a few inches to clear the bell housing without having to resort to re-doing the transmission tunnel, but raised pickups are so common that no one batted an eye at it. All in all, it was very cleverly done.

The Great Willys Picnic is this Sunday. It’s another event I’ve always wanted to attend, but never seem to be in the vicinity to do that! It’s supposed to be 77 degrees with a low chance of rain. Sounds like perfect weather!

This year’s Willys Am Tegernsee convention in Bavaria will be July 13, 2019, I’m still hoping to attend this some day.
