Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Over at Jalopnik, David Tracy reported on his plans to turn a derelict FC-170 from Camano Island into an electric off-road vehicle. He provides plenty of pics of the neglected FC, one that will require a full rebuild. It will be interesting to follow this project.

“I’m Selling this 1960 Jeep willys FC-170. It is not a FC-150 with the short bed, this is the 3/4 ton with a 9’ bed. This particular truck used to be a hooker/ tow truck at some point. Very good patina. Not as rusty as you may think. I have 10 of them and this is one of my better ones. Very solid bones. No motor or trans. I do have a OM617 turbo diesel I could throw in with the truck for the right price. Or I could sell you the truck with motor installed and running for the right price as well.
