UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1250.

(09/27/2012) I kind of like this purpose built jeep.

“This is a 56 willys cj5 that was used to work on oil field pipelines. the old jeep has a heavy steel bed and a war surplus braden winch that works and is worth good money to someone restoring a military vehicle. tires are good. the engine runs perfect. i put a new master cylinder on it. i had planned to use it at the deer lease as a work rig but never got around to it. has brand new gas tank also that has not been installed. asking 1950.00 cash.”

Looking for USDA jeeps I found these two different plows used for fire fighting in the late 1940s/early 1950s.

The “V-shape plow” was featured in the August 1949 issue of Popular Mechanics:

This plow was featured in the May 1951 issue of Popular Mechanics on page 151.

Refurbished Former Fire Jeep by Edmund Angelus

• CATEGORIES: Builds, Features, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Matt, the owner of Edmund Angelus, forwarded me a couple sets of pictures this weekend. You might remember the  builds he shared with us a few years ago.  Since then Matt moved his automotive company to Roanoke, VA.  He not only knows his way around jeeps, but he also does complete collision repair on cars as well, along with fiberglass & gelcoat repairs to boats & personal water craft.

His new address is  3239 orange Ave, Roanoke,  Virginia.
His phone number is 540-354-4321.

One of his recent projects was a former Fire Jeep with the data plate BJ-102, indicating at one point it was a Boyer Fire Jeep.  Unfortunately, the fire equipment was long gone.  Matt writes, “The jeep was purchased by a friend of mine from a car dealer in West Virginia. Commissioned to an individual for a off frame restoration, the Jeep was dismantled way beyond what was really needed. Motor, transmission transfer case were in pieces. Every piece of sheet metal was soda blasted to bare metal. When I came a crossed it the rebuild was going nowhere and the body tub was on a trailer, outside with water standing in it. I contacted the owner and negotiated to take on the restoration. The rest is history as they say. Another proud customer.”

• CATEGORIES: Features, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles, Other 4x4s • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

It isn’t  Willys, but it is a cool fire jeep.

“This is a very unique, 100% functional Fire Truck. The title reads as a 1994 Jeep Grass Fire Truck. The logos from the former Fire Dept is off, therefore you can put your own on it.All the lights & sirens work great! This is a rust free jeep. The entire under body and all the inside floors is rubber coated to prevent rust. This truck runs & drives like new, very nice jeep wrangler! This Fire Truck was well maintained and always kept indoors.

Due to it coming from the fire Dept. the title reads as rebuilt salvage because they rebuilt the Jeep into a Fire Truck. This truck was built heaver to hold the 100 + gallon water tank. This truck is a great investment to your Fire Dept or to you as a collector item, whatever you would like to use it as!

Photo of 1956 Fire Truck Douglas County, CO on eBay

• CATEGORIES: Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles, Old Images, Willys Trucks This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This is a print from a 35mm slide, but you are purchasing only the print and not the slide.

“Beautiful new professional print (6″ X 4″) from an old 35mm slide of a 1956 Willys Jeep pickup being used at the Douglas County Fire Department parked in the drive way of the fire house (KODACHROME TRANSPARENCY PROCESSED BY Kodak, date imprinted APR 60). Beautiful looking JEEP, Fire Engine Red, loaded with equipment. No idea where the photo was taken. If anyone can help I’d sure appreciate it. Nothing written on the slide. Much better than scan, crisp and clear. Any glare or distortion is from my digital camera. The ruler does not show up on the print.”

1951 CJ-3A Falkville, AL **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3200.

This is an ex-United Airlines jeep with a brass plaque still attached. It might be an interesting restoration if some early pictures can be found.

“This is a 1951 Willys Jeep with a 1946 windshield. The jeep was used by United Airlines to pull luggage carts and still has a brass plate on the dash with United Airlines and the vehicle number on it. Because of it’s use it only shows 6,823 miles on the odometer. I have no way of knowing if this is actual miles but have no reason for believing that it is not. When I put new tires on the Jeep last year the old tires looked new as far as wear but were dry rotted. The jeep was painted 3 years ago after any rusty areas were repaired with fiberglass resin and fiberglass matt. The repairs were not fixed with bondo. The vehicle is for fun and not for show. I have grandsons from age 4 to age 25 and some of them learned to drive a straight shift in this jeep. The paint job is not perfect by a long shot. The jeep is near perfect mechanically including transmission, rear end, transfer case, 4 wheel drive, steering, and brakes. Brakes were rebuilt this year. Motor cranks every time, does not smoke, and has always been dependable. Jeep has an antique tag and is road worthy. If you are looking for a Jeep that is mechanically sound, dependable and a lot of fun this may be it. Is mostly original except it is painted and has decals as a military jeep but it was not. The seats are mustang seats covered by me.”
