About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

Here’s a 1943 GPW that I featured on eWillys back in 2010. It was rough and had a funky windshield. I was sure it was headed for a car crusher.
Instead, someone bought this off of ebay and restored it! Mario, now the proud owner, purchased this from the rebuilder and was looking through eWillys when he stumbled upon the original post from 2010. So, here’s the original post on eBay, plus the after photos. If anyone knows any more history about this GPW, please let Mario know by commenting below the post. Thanks!
“Up for auction is a 1943 Military syle Ford Jeep. Once owned by Edward White who I was told was a Military Commander. Clean Title. Vehicle has been sitting for a number of years and is in need of full restore. Engine has been pulled and disassembled but looks to be complete and comes with Vehicle. Drivers side has a couple bullet holes for authenticity. Body has rust but can be replaced with reproduction style, which can be purchased online. Engine may be able to be rebuilt however I was told you can purchase military surplus crate motor but haven’t researched enough to tell you where. Engine number on Title matches number etched on block ( GPW98036 )while the engine casting number is GPW-6015.”
(07/31/2014) This has a variety of updates, including a Ford inline 6 motor. The original dash appears to have been covered or replaced. More pics at the auction site.
It’s a solid GPW, but isn’t entirely stock. The jeep includes an air suspension.
“Posting my 1942 ford GPW in excellent condition. Military predecessor to the Willys jeep cj2a Purchased several years ago from a body shop owner in Maine who restored it. It is in excellent condition. Some improvements are the 12v conversion, and air suspension set up. You can ad air to raise/ lower the ride height. Also makes for a very comfortable ride. The paint (dark green) makes it look like civilian, and the floor has been replaced with diamond plate steel along time ago. Would not take much to get it back to military condition. It starts and drives fine. 4wd hi/lo work as they should. I have only driven it in parades and occasionally around the neighborhood since I have owned it. The jeep is in good as condition (although civilian style) as it could be with a perfect paint job and no rust at all. It is garaged and covered 100% of the time. My intention was to return to military style, but i have too many toys to give this one the attention it deserves. I never registered it this year, but I will soon and get a sticker so you know it will pass.”
“1942 Willys military jeep with the Ford Motor it ran great until it started making a rattling noise in the motor about a year ago I parked it and I just haven’t had any time to rebuild it and I don’t want it to sit here and rot so if you’re interested please contact me”
“I have 3 Ford GPW tubs or bodies from World War 2. Plan on being at the Military show and swap meet in Effingham on Aug. 22-23. ANY interest in any of these bodies, I will bring them, otherwise they will stay home in WATSEKA. ILLINOIS, 60970. Take choice for $300 each and one is only $200. Two of them are script tubs. Let me know. Thanks”
UPDATE (06/19/2014) : Justin notes this seller has all kinds of MB & GPW parts. “I bought a GPW grill yesterday from this guy named Sam. He has any MB, GPW or civilian part you would need and he has multiples of each. From rolling frames, any F script marked parts, engines, trannys, anything you are looking for he has for sale. He is not “giving away” anything, but is very reasonably priced. He has quite a stockpile of great parts!”
Original Post (06/12/2014): Lots of stuff here. The jeep looks like it could use some work.
“I plan on attending the Military Swap Meet in late August there in Effingham. Will be bringing fenders, grills, axles, small parts, etc. Is there any interest in these large hard to load items?? Tubs, frames, axles, etc. ??? ALL WW2 Military Jeep original parts.”
“This is a project. My husband packed it home as a project and it has set here long enough. He has been told it is time to go. Only asking what he spent 400. No title. Will provide bill of sale. Can be looked at after 5 pm weekdays and have more time on weekends. Text or call. Everything told to me is that this is a 1942 Ford GPW. “
“1944 Ford WW2 Jeep All Canvas Accessories include…crank handle, Brass Fire Extinguisher. Older restoration kept in great condition. Recent brake cylinder and shoe replacement. Has good, rebuilt Willy’s engine. WW2 block. This would compliment any car collection and is ready for parades, show and shines, or just plain old running around in. The second gear in this one does jump out under load. Owner is willing to negotiate price due to this. Asking $16,500 obo.”
