This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (04/30/2014) Listed as a 1941 (none made in ’41), it is more like a late ’42 or later given the lack of script.

“!945 Ford GPW Jeep. Willis and Ford made identical jeeps for the army in 1942-1945. This vehicle underwent a frame off restoration and finished in army green gloss in 2000. All of the receipts are available as well a link to some of the restoration on video below:

The numbers match and body sequence is correct. The Jeep was manufactured in Ford’s Louisville plant in May 1945 and believed to have been used at Cory Navel Base in Pensacola and later sold to the West Virginia Highway Dept.”

“1942 Ford Military jeep GPW, new carb, have replaced brake lines, gas lines, brakes,wheel cylinders, master cylinder, wheel bearings, axial seals, new battery body tub needs sheet metal work, undercarriage sound engine has no leaks. radiator leaks repairable. Engine in great shape, has a new head gasket, your welcome to come by for a look. will consider trades”

The passenger entrance has been lengthened. I wonder if the driver’s side has been too. The body has tool indents on the passenger side as well, but is not a M-38, so it is likely a replacement body.

(04/12/2014) The owner has had this jeep quite a while.
“WW II Jeep owned by WWII veteran!!! This jeep is in great condition!!! It has brand new tires, brakes, and new gears in the transmission. I have owned this jeep for 47 years. Must see to appreciate!”

(04/22/2014) Looks solid. Updated motor and tranny.
“I am selling my one of kind 1942 Ford GPW with a 1951 M100 Trailer. Sold as a package deal only. I did a complete frame off restoration of this jeep and trailer in 2004. The paint is a little faded, but pretty much everything is good to go. The engine and transmission where missing when I got the jeep, so I installed a 1985 4.3 liter Chevy V6 with a 4 barrel carburetor and a later model Military M38 T-90 transmission. This Jeep has lots of power and is a blast to drive! The transmission does pop out of second gear sometimes. I just put $1200.00 worth of new tries and wheels on the jeep last August. I kept the jeep as close to original as possible, except for the engine and transmission. It was titled as a 1948 Willys Jeep when I bought it, so that is the way it is still titled. I am asking $9500.00 cash for it and the trailer. Email this post for more info.”

“Flat fender painted military green. Has late model Chevy S-10 Blazer running gear. V-6, Automatic, power steering. Good tires, no rust. Good for hunting or running around the ranch. Comes with saddle tank and Tow bar.”
